That looks like a useful implant TBH. Even if it wasn’t intended as such.

It’s a ring, right? I think that it could be more useful with some magnets added in the center. That’d make an implantable parts tray!

Does the skin naturally sink down into the whole to reattach or did they have to press it down?

It’s a silicone ring, so I guess that a combination of both? From my understanding, they fill the pocket with saline and then push most of it out, then the rest gets absorbed by the body and the implant gets encapsulated.

Guess that those also become a part of you and not just in the physical sense. Visible subdermals should become part of a person’s body image rather quickly.

And while I suspect that those are removable, doing so would be a lot harder than with an x series.

It does. It takes some time, depending on… well, tons of things I guess. Skin elasticity, size of the “hole”, general healing stuff, all that. For my power button, it took about ten weeks, maybe twelve, but there was no need to “push” anything down

I don’t know if anyone does it that way, but I never ever heard of that. It’s actually simple - you slice the skin up a little, insert tools to lift the skin and push the silicone implant in. Afterwards, blood and air are pushed out of the pocket as much as possible and the suture is made, that’s all.
There is absolutely no reason to inject saline, except maybe for some terribly bad bodymodders who can’t work with dermal elevators… but I really never heard of that. There is a lot of liquid in the pocked afterwards, but that’s just a little blood and the usual wound fluid.

I’ve heard of that to flush them out but not in.

That makes more sense, actually
Though because they’re made of silicone, they do not bond to tissue, so - at least according to my artist - you can simply pull them out. He did remove a few because the people no longer wanted them, and I know that for really large horns, it has to be done in several steps increasing in size. Must admit, the thought of getting a “little” horn implanted, fully healed and then removed again, just to insert the next size into the - surely irritated - pocket doesn’t sound like much fun, even to me…

If one gets a horn, can we say s/he is… horny ?

Ooookay, a little update again from me. My latest piercing (Medusa, done by Igor at Anatomie) has healed well, accepted the shorter labret and looks fine now, so I decided to take a picture of all piercings around my face. Really happy with them all, and the combination of snakebites + Medusa is a really nice one, I think.

I’m still thinking about some more piercings in my nose - a second nostril on the opposite side would be nice, or that high nostril idea I had a while ago. But for now, I’m fine with how it all looks like (and I used to have that habit of getting only one new piercing per year - something went wrong the last two years I guess  )

I just found my old bodmod-chart again, where I listed all mods I have with date, price, artist and all that and just realized that I currently have 24 piercings (got pierced 31 times, but some had to be removed or redone)… didn’t believe it myself, if anyone asked I’d still just say I’ve got “some”, but definitely not that many…

We know…

I guess that once you get into scarification and other more painful sounding mods, 24 piercings is not a lot. But that’s a lot for a norme like me.

Most of them being on the ears, if I recall correctly?

Yes, my ears currently have 15 piercings, so it’s the majority. But that kinda makes sense - there are so many nice and interesting spots to pierce in an ear, while places like lips or noses easily look too “crowded” (imho). I still see one or two good spots on my ears, while I’d say my lips are pretty much done now - when I add more there, the individual piercings lose their effect, I think.
