New chip nfc for payments

Lol somebody asked me to convert that module to a better form factor. I’ll let you know if I can work anything out

Having it in a better form factor would be amazing, especially if it doesn’t mean too great of a performance hit. How long do you think you’d need to look into this, as I’m willing to pull the trigger on this conversion as soon as I’ve consulted my installer (Thursday).

I’ll have two of these wearables (Keychain and Bracelet) ready to disassemble as well, so I could send two modules if needed.

Yeah since it isn’t even available here I’d have no issues sending the one I have for testing. It’s useless to me in it’s current state anyways

Personally I think this antenna configuration is almost ideal… it’s an infineon chip so the power required is low, so they can get away with em compliant performance from a pretty narrow design. It’s not needle installable but it’s going to give you outstanding performance with terminals… I’d chuck it into the wrist / arm and be done with it.

But, I can see how getting it down to a needle installable narrow flex antenna design would help installation flexibility.

So in the “default” form factor, an install in L4/L5 would not be advisable?
I’d love to be able to specify a location for my installer when I meet with him on Thursday, any chance you could help me with a more accurate recommended install location with a picture I could show him?

And would the custom needle be a recommended tool for installation of this to avoid scalpel install? Or is this too big for the needle to be useful?

Well that’s assuming the height of the chip isn’t too large. We’ve talked about this before. I could try those shape tricks. I think it would probably still be installable with the 5mm needle, but we haven’t tried.

Amal’s right though if you can convert this as is then go with that. Don’t sacrifice your quality of life on the vague idea that something better will be coming Soon :tm: , something better will always be coming soon. Besides the module as is will be EMV certified and have way better performance.

Alright, well, do you still want the bracelet sent in, or just the chip? I’ll be ready to order the conversion and ship by friday/early next week.

Just the extracted chip antenna module works best.

Alright. I’ll extract my keychain chip in that case, bring it to my installer for consultation thursday, then immediately after he confirms he can do the install, I’ll make the purchase for conversion and ship friday

Remember the final size will be at least 1mm on each side, so a 11mm by 32mm final size is what you’ll be deal with.

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll let him know.
I might be dense but I’ll try asking one more time. Do you think installing in L5/L4 is realistic, or will this be too big?
And should I order the custom needle for install, or is it too big for this as well?

Thank you for the guidance.

It all depends on your specific hands. Do you think it would fit just fine, given the dimensions?

I see your point. Using a paper cutout with the dimensions you mentioned, I think it’d be okay. But again, I’ll consult with my installation professional. They do extreme body mods, so should be at least partially in their alley.

Let me know if I should place the needle on the order and I’ll place the order by Thursday afternoon!

Flexible Plastic might be a better analog

NOT P5 (knife edge) not reccomended!!! :warning:

If it was me, (and I wish it was, I’m envious and I miss my payment implant)
I would go for a P3 or P4; P4 is where my last custom payment was, and it was a great spot for pay terminals.

I would also consider P1, but both of my P1s are taken up.

Also for me, I “couldn’t” do P2 as I have a prominent tendon in the way.

That  is why you want to assess your own biology in consultation with your installer.
Everybody is different.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I had the idea to stick the chip to the inside of a bandaid and wear it for a day or two, to get an idea of how I like the positioning, and so far so good. Only remaining thing is to consult with my installer.

And to know if it’s relevant getting the custom needle

Great idea

Haha, you have been persistent, and people have be deliberatly ignoring your question.

I’ll put you out of your misery, with my OPINION if you are interested

Your implant will be ~11mm
The FlexNT is 8mm
With the custom needle, it is JUST possible to use a custom needle, your extra 3mm doesn’t sound like much, but thats HUGE

Will your installer be comfortable ( or legally allowed) to use a scalpel? If so, THAT is your better option

Thanks, any feedback is appreciated, even if there’s no 100% right answer.

I’ll talk it over with my installer then, if he can do a scalpel install. They usually do extreme body mods, so I don’t think a scalpel install is out of reach.

Perfect
Take that path if you can, that is the “right” answer

Alright, thanks. He wasn’t worried at all, and said he had even done another install recently.
Just over $300 though for the procedure? Seems a bit steep. I mean, I’d rather pay to have it done professionally than cheap out and lose my sensation in my hand, but is this common pricing?
