Finally made the drive up to the nearest partner and I now have my two implants, the xMagic and NExT (In L0 and R0 respectively).
Thank you everyone who has helped me by answering questions!!!

Great choices
Great placement
Thanks! Looking forward to playing around once theyve healed!
Hello! Congratulations on the new installs!
I’ve had my NExT for about a year and my xMagic for about a week and a half.
Both are absolutely wonderful. Did you get a gen1a or gen2 Mifare?
What plans do you have?
I got a Gen2 Mifare xMagic.
The NExT ive been putting to use with https://unit.link that shows up in the NFC Tools app, but thats a placeholder until I can selfhost my own.
The xMagic I plan to use for hotels and such, and potentially unlocking my PC.
Got any advice for the recovery period? My piercer wants me to keep the bandages on for a month to hold stuff in place.
Always looking for tips!
A month seems excessive. I usually leave a bandaid on for a few hours and then remove it. I am careful to wash the entrance wound a couple of times a day, and to not play with the implant or bump it.
Usually it takes about 14 days to heal. Some can be a little shorter and others a bit longer.
Yeah the bandaging isn’t going to do that… I get the desire to support healing but external bandaging isn’t going to provide this kind of support.
People on the forum made a design for a 3D printed device you could tape in place that might help though. Of course I can’t find the thread now.
I think
I think he more of meant to keep my skin from stretching but idrk haha.
If you find it please let me know!
Another option is to use toothpicks (broken down to the correct length) to hold it in place. Where have you installed them? I didn’t need to do any of this with mine. I have one in P0 of each hand, my wrist and p4 of each hand.
That would definitely not be an issue for an xMagic injectable…
I have P0 on both,
Im not sure what you mean by toothpicks to hold in place?
Im not totally sure the reason, he just recommended that. Ill send him a message to clarify.
Some people have reported using a toothpick either side of the X series to hold them in place. The picks are taped in to place. They stop the implant migrating.
I never had that problem though and just removed the band-aid after a few hours and left them.
Ahh, I cant even feel mine without pushing super hard, so idk if this will work for me.
Post your questions you DM’d me here
I apologize!
Initial question:
granted it is day 1 post install, but is it normal to be able to read the tags via my phone but not the PM3? Or am I just not orienting the PM3 correctly?
I also am a bit confused on as my implants do seem quite a bit deeper than others, will they rise as I heal?
@amal’s answer:
In short, yes day 1 is probably too early to expect much keep trying as things heal up and swelling goes down.
Yeah. I’d just leave it alone. Just keep the injection site clean and you should be right.
Will do! Much appreciated friend
In my experience, external bandaging is only really good for the skin itself. As far as stretching goes, the only thing that comes to mind is keeping the scar as small as possible. Maybe your installer threw on a steri-strip (basically just pulls the “flap” left from the needle over the rest of the wound. This type of thing shouldn’t really need to be on for more than 3-5 days.
Otherwise, assuming your field of work is somewhat clean (desk job), you can probably forego any external bandaging for most of the day.
My unprofessional suggestions from personal experience combined with info from my installer, who has worked EMS 20+ years and went to med-school (they’re a family member so I get to annoy them with questions constantly):
-Day 1-2: Don’t mess with the origional bandaging if you can help it.
-Day 2-3: Leave the steri strip (if there is one), put over a normal bandaid if your work is mildly dirty.
-Day 3-7: You should be fine to leave it in the open when you’re chilling at home, cover it and keep it clean if you’re doing anything particularly dirty.
-Day 7-14: Just be careful. Skin should be healed by now, so just avoid bumping it. You should be able to get proxmark reads pretty easy, cellphone reads might still be sketchy.
-Day 14-30: Pretty much healed, still avoid bumping it. HF cell phone reads should be reasonably achievable.
-Day 30+: Business as usual.
-Month 6: Scar should be hard to notice.
