Problem reading FlexUG4 [SOLVED] Move the lube packet!

Now the swelling has gone down on my Flexug4.
However, I still haven’t gotten any readers (camping, work, garage, Yale, etc.) to respond.
I bought a Flipper Zero, and it works with that, as well as with my Android phone if I remove the case.
When I compare it to my FlexM1, it worked at all these places without any issues.

I’m attaching a picture of my placement.

RSP or MFGC should eliminate the requirement to remove the case

I have ordered repeater stickers, which I will try.
But the big problem is where i could use the chip if no public readers recognize flexug4.

Thats a pretty broad statement.

Do you also have a Ultimate Magic Card to test with?

Have you read through the documentation?

Hi !

I don’t have another Gen4 card, only the FlexUG4 card. Most of the readers I use are Mifare 1K or 4K, and I use the Flipper to switch between the cards. When I use the Flipper to emulate the card, it works fine, but when I use the UG4, the reader never recognizes the card.

It seems that the antenna might be too small to deliver enough current to the chip, but I could be wrong. Previously, I used a FlexM1, and I never had any problems getting a response from the readers.

I think there are some other steps we could walk through, but a possibly the easiest fix would be if you could attach an RSP or MFGC to the readers.
Is that doable?

I can attach RSP in my home , but the readers on my work, and camping sites will be a bigger problem  .
Do you have any other tips ?
Im still waiting for the RSP , will be here in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your help

Your install looks good and nice and shallow, there doesn’t appear to be any swelling, so I think we can rule that out.
However
The fact that your phone can read it, but only just is not ideal.

My initial thought is possibly how you are presenting to the reader.

The usual for an xSeries is forming a + with the implant and antenna.

But with a Flex like the UG4, this should be parallel with the antenna.
Is that how you are presenting?

So you are wanting just the Tip?

:twss:

Have you used your diagnostic tools* to identify the location of the reader antenna location and the duty cycle?

*xFD and diagnostic card

I have tried to move the hand in all directions and positions (Thats what she said) !
But as you mention in next post, I have an xFD and a diagnostic card , and will check some more with that on my strongest reader.
With that reader my flexm1 react 0.5-1cm away from the reader.

With the xFD, can you identify exactly where the antenna is on that reader?
Maybe draw the trace with a pencil or whiteboard marker.

Whats the voltage range on that reader?

What voltage are you using?

What mode is your ug4 in?
MF1k 4 Byte?
Can you copy the FlexM1 that works to it?

Can you do a PM3 hf search or TagInfo scan and share it

Also, well done getting a reader for your testing

Unfortunately my XFD seemed to be broken, but with diagnostic card it seems alot brighter than on my flipper.

This is all information i can get about the reader

Model Name: KR601 IC
Material: ABS + textured PC
Size: 86x86x14mm
Power / Current: DC 12V/Max.70mA
RFID Frequency:13.56MHz

Have tried the ug4 in both mifare 1k and 4k
I have used my flipper to copy the from flexug4 to flipper and emulated the card , works without problem, both with 1k and 4k tag.
The information from the flipper is

Could it be some settings for the magic tag the reader does not like (ATS) or something like that ? .
Because it seems that the reader is stronger than my flipper reagarding to the light from diagnostic card.

Hmmm, im starting to run out of ideas.

Have you tried presenting from the rear?

I’m wondering if the antenna is set away from the front face :man_shrugging:

As a gentlemen I always ask.

These readers usually have the antenna coiled around the outer most edges. You may have to present the XFD more to the edge of the device than the inner circle like you would assume.

Yes , i have tried from the rear aswell , I may order a ultimatecard gen4 to do some tests.
Thanks for all your help , if you got some new ideas , please let me know.

Thanks

Got my repeater sticker today !
The only way I got my reader to read the card was to do like this

and thats the same for both proxmark, and the external reader , the yale lock never recognize the flexug4(works without problem with my old flexm1)
Will try the locks on work after 1,5 week when my vacaction is over.

So what you are saying is “The repeater stickers work where all else fails!”

So basically you need to implant the stickers

My FlexUG4 reads fine on my phone and Flipper.
I have a Hammy sticker on both and it certainly helps.

We know yours is reading, and your install looks nice and shallow.
It actually looks very similar to mine,

I’m actually a bit confused, because I cant see why its not working as well as mine.
The implant is the same, from the same supplier, same components, same location, same readers.

It looks well healed, but can you confirm how long its actually been installed for?

So, yours works fine with readers on hotel doors, worksites, etc, and other readers.? Mine was installed three weeks ago, but it healed pretty fast.
I have no problem reading with the flipper , tried a sticker on my flipper , but it got worse.
After placing 2 stickers on my proxmark, im able to read if i put it tight to the hand.

Ahhh, I think i see the problem with the stickers Sir.

The stickers need to be placed in a precise area. Usually where the signal is strongest.

That is difficult to tell for your case because you are having a hard time reading your implant as it is.

Also 3 weeks is still pretty fresh, i will be willing to wager a bet as time goes on it should be somewhat easier to read. (note i do not have a UG4)
