Purewrist prepaid payment card in USA

That’s interesting. Did you try the Diagnostic Card on that little NFC plate at the bottom?

Yeah why is it way over there? Seems sketchy haha

Ohh great tip!!! I will bring that with me next time I am also having issues with the verifone readers. I get an error saying to rescan my phone so I will bring my xdf and see next time.

Everything else is a touch panel,
The 2 ports left and right on bottom are some kind of bar code scanner, with the nfc Module presumably in the middle

I can confirm this. There’s a few gas stations in my area (north Texas) which show as having contactless payment at the pumps, but I keep my diagnostic card on me and haven’t ever been able to pick anything up with it.

yes, like in the pic Eriequiet posted, the NFC bit is there with the flashing lights, but no signal comes off it

Loves Truckstop has working contactless payment systems at the pumps and the POS terminal inside. I’m in north/central Texas and I travel to and from the metroplex semi regularly.

These stupid verifone terminals are the only ones that give me issue. I’ve been able to get exactly 1 to read from the top, all of the others I stand there rubbing my hand all over it like a weirdo. I’d be interested to see if you figured out where the antennas actually are in that thing

I don’t haunt these forums much, but just checking in to say that my life is unequivocally a tiny bit better because I went to the trouble of stabbing this little payment chip into my hand.

It’s a quality of life improvement so mild that I don’t really notice it until I sit down and think about how cool it is to never worry about whether or not I have my wallet, or that I have been leaving the house without my phone more frequently since I don’t rely on Apple Pay…

I can’t imagine a 10-20yr future in which most people do not have these. Sure it’s dumb to be early and have put one in that’s gonna expire in a few years, but I’m mildly grateful for it pretty much every day and am surprised more folks don’t have them.

Here’s a little video related to this topic for anyone that might be interested in reader orientation. I was doing a little computer networking with a surveillance system, register, and credit card machine for a small Deli/Grocery store today where they just built a new office around the register counter. Naturally I had to play with the contactless payment feature. My plan yet is to get an Apex yet when it comes out, but I’m still kicking around the idea of the Purewrist conversion to “buy more time” until hopefully the credit card companies would get on board. This is the First Data FD150 credit card reader responding to and giving me the common “Multiple Cards Detected” error when picking up the HF side of my NExT… https://youtu.be/Ts9ufwiXLlM

After going across the country two times my purewrist is finally here. But it has 26 month expiry instead of 36. If there is nothing they can do I’ll implant it anyway but yeah taht’s how it’s going so far

Does anyone who knows more about Smartcards think there’s a way to figure out the expiration date from the ATS? Here’s mine from the first batch of Purewrist

Have you also asked on the RFID Hacking Discord - Iceman, Doegox etc. ?
I can send you an invite if you need one

Nah, I’m good. Thanks though

no there is not. you must issue various APDUs to select the payment applet, then request track 2 data and extract the exp from that (and the card number too).

You’ll need to learn EMV commands to do this but basically there are some steps that build on each other;

  • get list of AIDs from card (application directory)
  • select payment system applet (various exist depending on card manufacturer and chip OS)
  • list the payment networks loaded (usually just one but can be more than one or different AIDs)
  • select the payment network desired (again usually just one exists, but can be different AIDs)
  • request track 2 data from payment network data (standard EMV command for track 2 request)

Reading card data with my own software…

Now to read with CCRP app on Android…

*Anyone concerned I have revealed the card number, this specific card number will never be activated because of the peculiar fault in the chip that causes it to be readable for only a short amount of time before going so far out of spec it dies, only to come back after a few minutes.
