Introduction
Astari (https://astariwearables.com/) is a brand that makes keyfobs and trinkets enabled with contactless payment features. A customer of theirs chose to purchase one of their products and modify it, violating the Terms of Service with Astari. That customer posted their experience on this forum.
Astari freaked out and made contact with us. Then demanded, under legal threat, that we remove and delete all references to Astari on the post. This thread serves as both a review of Astari, and proof of how Astari;
- is a knee jerk reactionary bully
- doesn’t respect free speech
- are actually cowards
- doesn’t understand the Streisand effect
TL;DR
After going back and forth with Astari, I reached out to the customer to see if the customer would like to update their post to remove Astari branding. They (the customer) agreed to edit their post and remove Astari branding from photos and the word Astari from text.
Unfortunately for Astari, I am all about transparency, so I had been posting their interactions with me / DT on the forum as well (that history is contained here in this thread below). They somehow think it’s appropriate and legally defensible to demand we remove ALL references and mentions of any kind of the word Astari completely from our forum and website. This is laughable to me. You don’t get to control public discourse about your brand, especially when it was you (Astari) who initiated this interaction with a threat.
