Show off your Magnets! 🧲 TiTAN + xG3 v1 + v2 Gallery

I have been working out some ideas for magnetic toys that i can use with my Titan. This is a very basic rolling magnet made from an old whiteboard magnet and a 3D printed shell I designed. I have a few more ideas, but maybe someone here also has an idea?

Technically not showing off, just adding a quick bit of trivia.

I’ve been watching orphan black, and season 4 episode 1 they are implanting magnets in fingertips and show off picking up a pen.

Anyway apologies, I thought it was awesome.

that and the implanted portion is bone anchored

I don’t think it matters that the magnet is anchored to bone on one side. If you put the same object outside the skin to a magnet that is anchored and to a magnet that is not anchored, the same amount of pressure is going to be applied to the tissue between the magnet and the object regardless of the magnet’s anchoring, no?

Kind of. You can spread it over a much larger area and the magnet isn’t compressing the skin as it is pulled away from the body, non?

Uhh.. no. It doesn’t matter at all if the magnet pulls away from bone or not.. the other side is completely free to compress the skin all it wants. If you put your finger between a large magnet and a steel plate.. would it matter if the other side of the magnet was glued to something? Not at all.. so why would it matter as an implant?

I drew a little picture.

Because the external object is free to move, it will put the same amount of pressure (force) on the tissue regardless of whether or not the magnet is anchored. The anchor is purely there to stop the magnet (and external object) from moving around.

take a wide rimmed shallow bowl. Place the magnet in the bottom such that it is not touching the skin. The wide rim of the bowl is applying the same force to 10x surface area.. The bowl magnet does not touch the skin nor does the bone mounted magnet move forward to compress the skin above it.

Ah I see.. yes with this specific system (cochelaer implants) where the outer object envelops the bone mounted magnet.. absolutely. My brain was stuck on people basically wanting to slap watches to their arms or whatever.

Appologies @pac @tac0s  .. tunnel vision.
