Need advice on purchasing.
I’ve been out of the loop for a while, and I’ve forgotten a bit about what’s going on.
I’m planning to buy an implant for simple tasks like opening doors and gates. I have several keys with these tags.
I’ve been eyeing the NExT v2.
Interesting thing, it even glows Will it suit my purpose?
I understand it can do a lot more, but that’ll come later. I suppose a programmer is also needed to read and write tags? What kind -model?
How many tags (door opening) can be programmed into it?

A single device can be in rolled onto multiple systems. Providing they are compatible. Its like adding your name to the list. You can add your name to as many lists as you like providing they can spell your name correctly.
Depending on the type of tag you might be able to get away with just your phone, although the PM3 and Flipper Zero are also popular choices. The PM3 is my personal favorite, and the most capable
It’s possible, but it’s hard to say without knowing a bit more about the systems you’re hoping to use it with:
There’s not enough info (for me anyways) to tell exactly what technology that fob is, could you try scanning it with your phone using an app like NXP’s TagInfo or NFCTools? That should give us an idea what you’re working with
Realistically, the NExTv2 will have two credentials on it. The NExTv2 is a dual-chip implant, and both sides can be used simultaneously, although they aren’t cross-compatible. The HF side doesn’t support cloning, it would have to be enrolled in any system you wanted to use it with. The LF side however does support cloning, and so would likely work for you if your system is LF
Additionally, although it only holds two credentials at once, there’s no limit to how many different systems each credential can be enrolled in at any given time, if you’re capable of enrolling new tags into the systems
Do you happen to have an android phone you could test it with?
I can never remember if iPhones can detect Mifare Classic like that…
In any case, that’s likely a good sign from a cloning viewpoint, most of the non-NFC compatible credentials out there are some degree of broken.
Most likely it’s either LF of Mifare Classic. LF would work with the NExTv2, but MFC cloning would require a different implant. You may still be able to enroll the HF side of the NExTv2 in place of the Mifare Classic however
Unfortunately i dont have any, but later this evening i can make a photo of this lock and by google lense discover the model and find out the type of the tug
99% of the time, that will mean it’s LF.

I don’t have any direct experience with that specific reader, but generally, bulkier locks create distance and distances is not our friend when we are trying to read a very small antenna.
So unless it’s putting out a lot of power, you might struggle with an xSeries type implant.
An xFD would probably be the best option to test if it would likely work with a NExT2 for example.
Not a guarantee, but a close approximation.
A closer approximation to the NExT2 and one of the current “best” implants avaliable at the moment, as it covers almost every access option and would therefore be ‘futureproofing’ yourself , is the dUG4T.
You will need a writer such as the PM3 to get the most oit of this though.
You have many more options available to you, but you just need a little more information to make the decision
Thank you for your comprehensive answer. I think I might try NExT v2 first. I hope it will handle the job. The dUG4T is a bit pricey, but if the issue persists, I might consider that option in the future.
