If I’m not mistaken, that black is epoxy which can be melted with controlled heat.

Yeah I don’t know what’s going on. I was trying to determine the capacitance of the chip so that we can identify it. I don’t know why I’m continuing to pursue this, it will likely not become an implant. I guess I wanted to get the information documented before I put it away for good. Here’s the specs I determined:
Resonant Peak: 14.36MHz
Coil Inductance : 1.77uH
Series Capacitance: 58pF
Parallel Capacitance: 50pF
I must have done something wrong though, because there’s no chip capacitance that would allow the tag to resonate at 14.36MHz in that configuration. I don’t see how, though. I triple checked everything.
