A while ago, in school, I loaded an old android with a bunch of emulators. It worked pretty well, I remember playing Pokemon on it.

Titan is discontinued because of the expensive process to make it.

I was planning on replacing my parylene ones with titans when the day comes, wether that’s in a month or a couple years. And honestly I would take the opportunity to get more at the same time.
I hope things will change or a new alternative will exist by then.
While there is some choice in lifting magnets out there the titan is pretty much the only viable sensing one nowdays. For that reason, I guess that titans would sell even if they got more expensive?

Actually my goal with the Titan is to ultimately lower the price. The primary reason it doesn’t sell much is cost. There’s no reason for it to be as expensive as it is besides the vendor costs and logistics moving the parts around between them.

The use of magnetron sputtering for the deposition of thin titanium coatings...

Perhaps if it is worth pursuing TheThoughtEmporium would let you borrow their equipment for a couple test pieces.

Trying to setup vivokey in Unity’s Authentification (Player Accounts) plugin…

I assume the client ID is the one I get in the vivokey app by creating a custom app as per the docs

Not sure if the two other fields are just arbitrary names or something specific though. Any ideas?

Stupid question,

Been watching a bunch of electroplating of 3D prints lately (some gorgeous stuff)

Could you electroplate titanium onto a magnet?

I know there’s an art about what metals have to bond to each other… but wouldn’t electroplating be thicker and heartier and therefore more reliable than like a pvd coating?

What I wonder is why we can’t keep going with this process until there’s a sufficient coat of that alone. Too slow? Too uneven? Can’t build up multiple layers?

Again, high temps… but also it’s not a hermetic seal. The particles do not bond together well at the atomic level, they just mash together, but that does not keep water out and bodily fluids will eventually attack it. This is exactly what we tried with the m31… check the video about “DT isn’t doing magnets anymore”… I cover a lot in there… and rest assured I spent tens of thousands of dollars working on magnet designs and coatings that all failed.

That’s not to say that more research shouldn’t be done. Titan is discontinued because of the expensive process to make it. Nearly all of the suppliers involved raised prices considerably to the point I couldn’t see making another batch… so research needs to continue.

I did some googling after I spitballed, apparently titanium doesn’t play nicely with electroplating processes

I’ve gone through pvd, cvd, ald, and a few other methods of laying down titanium and titanium nitride, and it’s all imperfect for various reasons.

it’s not worth doing imho at this point because the current core is getting shut down… the new API is basically feature complete at this point, and i’m going to be having some talks about building out a new IdP with OIDC and SSO/SAML

Oh and another random thought, the problem of powering implants. Well what about a kinetic clutch that charges a capacitor? Would work better if placed in arm due to range of motion .
