I just acquired a small pool 16ft x 10ft x 4ft.
I want an electrolytic chlorine generator / salt water generator / SWG but the price is ridiculous.
As nearly as I can tell, all I need to make one, is to install some titanium electrodes (I have some 6AL-4V sheet) in the water flow, and charge it with 12-24V at 6-15A. Chlorine production is limited by cycle time, and or varying the wattage.
What would you suggest or dissuade for a power supply?
Also, calcium chloride can build up on the electrodes causing a short. Is a fuse sufficient, or do I need a power supply thats built to handle that?
Maybe repurpose an automotive battery charger? Most of the newer ones are built with multiple safeties, like dead shorts, reversed polarity, etc.
I could also use an automotive battery as a buffer, especially if used with the charger.
Trying to make sure I think this through before electrifying a mass of water that Iāll be occupying. (FWIW, I intend to turn it off before getting in).
Sounds like any current limited power should be able to handle the job but in this case safety is insanely important so get a decent one. Can get one thatās intended and certified for pool use? Are those a thing?
Yes, as long as itās properly rated. Most power supplies have some form of overcurrent protection but adding a fuse is always a good idea.
Car batteries are built to provide a significant amount of current so a short circuit with one of those can get ugly.
Does this count as software gore?
Says reply with āYESā so I replied āYESā but the error function seems to be case sensitive, but it worked even though it through up an error
Edit:
Iām definitely not a software engineer or programmer, but it makes me think of something like this in python:
if customerResponse == āyesā or āconfirmā or āacceptā:
then customerResponseAccept (info):
else:
customerResponseError
if customerResponse == āYESā:
customerResponseActivateAccount():
Or whatever lol
Think it is an easy solution to just put the equivalent of lower().customerResponse == āyesā
Then again, Iām no engineer or coder, Iāve just built some stupid scripts and IRC or Discord bots with python lol
donāt you hate it when you have a BRILLIANT ideaā¦
only to discover, someone else had the ideaā¦ like a hundred years agoā¦ and its been common place for yearsā¦ you just never realized it
boo
I was brain storming with my safe project, and I came up with the idea of a free spinning piece of metal, so that if you tried to drill the core out, the drill bit would grab the free spinning metal, and spin it rather than cut through itā¦
Iāve literally stared at the stupid little spinning disks on a lot of shit locksā¦ but never cared enough to look into it, I was all excited I came up with something new and creativeā¦
only a hundred years late,
I might be a derpā¦ but at least Iām honest and funny
