This is how easy it will be for AI to maliciously murder most of us.

It doesn’t even have to be malicious… But offloading epistemology and reason into something else is dangerous. Throughout history, it has always been dogma, cliches, and ideology…

I don’t subscribe to the ā€œAI will become superintelligent, then all powerful, and turn against humanityā€ narrative…

However, there have been many dictators throughout history who have murdered millions. Many even disagreed with each other on how to create the perfect society… But one characteristic of them all is that they were not geniuses. The risk of evil emerging doesn’t require AI.

Also, the reasons why ordinary people accept things that are unacceptable can also be understood by studying history, psychology, the way schooling works, and several cultural aspects.

One common theme in evil dictatorships is the lack of reason, along with the lack of an epistemology that’s based on observing reality.

Ok, ChatGPT does fit into the last two statements… Starting with the inability of a language model to observe reality…

But I don’t see AI as a risk, I see the real risk in human stupidity and the lackluster schooling of today. The next horror of history might not even involve AI…

true. I once blindly followed a GPS route while visiting Pennsylvania to a highway onramp, at night, at 40mph, around a tight 275 degree turn. Right at the end of the ramp the headlights swung around to reveal a ā€œroad closedā€ sign and about 30 feet of rough dirt and a deep ditch between the end of the onramp and the highway. No flashing lights, no nothing.. just a very old and dirty (not very reflective) ā€œroad closedā€ blockade across the entire end of the onramp. Apparently the locals were all too familiar with this closure and took another route, but the GPS confidently guided me right to it. The screeching of tires was only just slightly loud enough to drown out my cursing.

But it could be.. specifically with training backdoors that enable specifically malicious behavior when specific trigger conditions are processed by the model.

I also have a cheap and cheerful dual frequency (independently selectable) that might be good for testing…

Shiny! I think we are moving away from UV and leaning into high powered flashlights.

I’m confused. Did you mean to @ StarGate01?

Haha, yep…I’m an idiot

Yeah I get better results with my olight than I do the black light pens. Also the UV led that would work best damages the skin the most. I wouldn’t recommend.

The overly human movements in the first part upset me, even though I know an easy way to train them these days is to have them mimic humans. Then the last part made it all better. I think that’s my favourite android I’ve seen built so far.
