The 4L60E is a complete piece of shit. The one in my '97 K1500 Z71 only lasted about 80K miles between rebuilds. I finally dumped it for a Tacoma with a 5 speed manual (urban theft deterrent).

Well, it is a 30 year old design, based off of a 40 year old design (TH700R4 from 1982). In it’s day it was a good tranny, once the early design weak links had been filtered out a bit. It’s just not a Heavy Duty transmission. For most truck work, the 4L80E was far preferable, and that’s just a reworked Th-400 from 1964!
In the years since we’ve developed much better tech, but there was a time when the 4L60E was a major improvement over the previous options.
Time marches on. Still I love that truck for being the relatively simple machine that it is. Plus it has a metric shit-ton of headroom, and I love that.

Not to nitpick, but Я is not a cyrillic R. It’s not even a consonant in fact. It’s pronounced “YA”.
It is a cutesy used by people who want to write English words that evoke the USSR though.
