Well, a thread that probably belongs in the looney thread popped up and it reminded me of this:

NGL, the digitigrade stilts kinda look like something fun to try.

Switching threads now to save our local AI some work.

For what it is worth, I understand the decision and it probably won’t be a deal breaker for me. I can use my NExT for NDEF, and eventually I want a resin/x desfire3 8k implant of some kind, so I’ll have even more room there.

I guess my main perspective boils down to ā€œI enjoy options and controlā€. This does clash with the plug n’ play goals of VK (at least in this particular instance), and ultimately that’s okay. I do appreciate that this general perspective was taken into account.

Ha, I actually missed Amals reply, had I seen it, I wouldn’t have bothered putting in my two cents

Thanks for highlighting (and Not derailing)
I totally get your point
and also (Amals) Vivokeys

Just to reiterate my point
Look at the ApexFlex vs. FlexSecure rollout.

VivoKey released the ApexFlex locked down to Fidesmo. You buy it, install it, use Fidesmo for applets, and Apex Manager to run them. It’s a straight-forward path that even a newcomer can follow without getting lost.

Later, DangerousThings dropped the FlexSecure. It was basically an unlocked Apex, but it was strictly for the ā€œadvanced user.ā€ It would’ve been way too much for a beginner to wrap their head around—

at least until Tac0s built the Global Platform GUI and made it easily manageable.

We want more people with implants and bringing them to the mainstream; complication and questions like the FlexSecure comes with don’t sell products, Simple plug n’ play devices like the VK ApexFlex and VK Thermo do

VivoKey is clearly building its own ecosystem here, and that isn’t a bad thing. When you buy a VivoKey product, you get a predictable, reliable experience.
Some people are Apple fanboys; I personally hate them for a lot of reasons. But you have to admit they handle their seamless ecosystem integration and premium product tier well.

VivoKey is hitting those same high notes, just without the corporate arrogance or the other negative traits that come with Apple.
THAT is what you are buying into.

I was going to join the BeUno beta, but opted out, however I have been following the progress, and from what I have seen, if you want an NFC implantable thermometer, in my opinion, the VK Thermo is your best option that is avaliable right now, my point is:
If you wait, there MIGHT be a DT released unlocked xThermo. Then again, there might not…

So I’m seriously considering doing some merch. But I’m very picky and I’m having a hell of a time finding something and maybe you all may know the right terminology I should be searching for.

I want to make zipped hoodies but I specifically want ones that I had in the early 2000s. They were special because they had what I know as a stash pocket. I’m the armpit there was a hidden zippered pocket.

Spitfire, the skateboard wheel company had a ton of hoodies with this as well as other brands. Now I can’t find a single one. Any ideas what I should be looking for?

Like you, I’ve heard them called ā€œstash pocketā€ but also because its in the armpit, also a ā€œpit pocketā€

My dutch buddy just programmed his NExT2 for the first time (at lest the HF side)! Put on one of Hammy’s stickers too.

Now I want blink…

I should redo my glow scar…

Dude I feel that.. remember I posted a while back about doing a hoodie for dangerous things? I spent weeks and weeks trying to get a source for a decent base hoodie I could apply some dt flair to and holy shit it’s just garbage soup out there.

Hmm, Amal, have you thought about reaching out to LTT/LMG? I’m assuming you haven’t found a supplier.

A few reasons I’m suggesting this:

1-Their products are expensive but good quality
2-They might be willing to point you towards a particular supplier
3-Perhaps it would open an opportunity for them to showcase some DT/VK products in a video.. Potentially draw a little attention.

Its a long shot, but it may be worth a shout.

Ooo good idea.. worth a shot!

I think they have a shop that actually makes theirs vs using a base

I just found out, they’ve made Hail Mary (book) into a movie. Comes out March 20th. Trailers look really good. Think I’m going all in on an early IMAX showing.

I do not enjoy how they put my favorite rock in the trailer.

I feel like showing interesting rocks in a trailer like that is just.. Wrong

I saw a thing by Weir, and I kinda gotta agree with it. Basically he said the story is about Grace/Rock. (Trying not to get too spoilery) It’s not about why or how or cool CGI, it’s just that interaction. (I’m greatly paraphrasing and expanding.) As such, showing such things, is just the beginning.

To be fair too, I’m more worried that they’ll do it like The Martian and I’d hate to see it treated so.

I hate the giant spoiler in the trailer. I won’t watch the movie.

Yeah iirc, you don’t find out about the special rocks in the book until roughly 1/3 of the way through it. I understand that it is the story, but I feel like showing the pretty rocks before knowing Grace’s backstory is.. Not ideal. It takes away from a lot of nervousness that we might feel on grace’s perspective that we otherwise would have if we didn’t know about the funny rocks in advance.

In other news, I am very excited to see the tile wall in the tunnel! Flashbacks could be done very poorly or very well, too.

Flashbacks will be key to story order / progression. Otherwise character perspective won’t make sense. Especially as that is mostly concluded in the book pre rocks. If the movie follows the same basic pattern it could work.

Just don’t be like the martian.

Think about this y’all.

I’m cooking salmon (fillets). I’ve always kinda wanted to. But… I’ve lived about as far from salwater as you can get all my life. I saw the Pacific, for about 5 days on vacation. I’ve seen the Gulf of Mexico once for a couple of hours. And now I’m having fresh salmon.

We, as varied of a people as we are, even poor such as I, live exalted lives compared to the kings and nobility of old.

Seriously, there’s nothing in this entire world I couldn’t have if I set my mind to it. :emoji_mindblown:

They are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean (salt water) to live most of their lives, and return to freshwater rivers to spawn.
but, some species can live entirely in freshwater

Your point is still valid though
