The anti🚫-derailment🚃 & thread🧵 hijackingšŸ”« thread🧵 ⁉

True!

I’ve seen a lot of people in the third world denounce progress and growth as if it was the worst thing ever… And it makes my blood boil as those idiots are infinitely better off thanks to civilization and all the good it brings with it.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Americans is their outlook on life. Where there’s a will, there’s a way after all.

Yeah, but…
I was raised in Kansas. According to gemini,

Granted I’m living alot closer now, and there’s even (stocked) freshwater salmon in Kansas. But that’s all beside the point.

Can you imagine the look on Charlamagne’s face if you gave him an ice cream cone? Catherine the Great with a can of cheese whiz?

Even that’s besides the point. There is no food served to current day kings / prime ministers / emperors / presidents, that I could not have tonight.

We live better than any humans in any time. Nobody has ever had it as good as we do, and it’s not reserved for the select few. We actually end up making up stuff, to be artifically rare, so that we can have ā€œstatusā€ items.

That explains the interest in glowy augmentations…

:emoji_thinking:

On an unrelated note, I love how this particular design looks:

The top one looks ugly but is much more stable. The bottom one looks slick but that’ll be one slick looking bot on its ass the second it gets into a tussle.

True, I prefer the bottom one.

Either one will require a decent amount of control theory. The top one will also end up tripping over without it.

Still, I like the slick design with two ā€œtoesā€. And it’s probably wider and more stable than what Boston Dynamics is currently doing.

Edit: I’d like something like this:

Why are we seeing sloppification of threads / replies? I mean, what’s the point of having an A.I. insert itself into a thread and generate replies?

Is someone trying to test for a Turing style pass / fail?

Are they hoping to get it good enough to go unnoticed so that they can slip in spam later?

Seriously, what’s the point of going to the trouble to set all that up besides pure maliciousness?

It seems like you’re concerned about the increasing presence of AI-generated content in online discussions. The rise of ā€œsloppificationā€ in threads likely stems from several factors.

First, AI can generate replies quickly, leading to a volume of content that might dilute the quality of discussions. The intention behind this can be varied: some may see it as a way to enhance engagement, while others may simply want to automate responses for efficiency.

(Just kidding)

My guess is that it is a mix of the above, and possibly someone just messing around. Think of it like a script kiddie seeing what they can do to a random small website with their fresh kali install. Instead of causing small performance issues or maybe even getting into an admin page with default credentials, they just wanna see if they can trick anyone.

While I appreciate the joke now, the first few lines of that was… disturbing.

There might already be some AI sleeper agents that were imbeded years ago.

They might even be moderators :thinking:that have started to allow bots in and keep humans :face_vomiting: out

@enginerd might be on to something, he even saw through many deliberate mistakes

Be not afraid, I have nothing but good intentions.

Oh @Pilgrimsmaster, don’t be silly, we’re all humans here

So, Firefox just updated itself. NOW WITH COOL NEW A.I. FEATURES!!!
:face_vomiting:

But I will say this, I’ve always liked firefox for the modular, do what you want with it, kind of thing it has going. (like adblocking). Anywho, I looked in settings, and it had turned back on several ā€œlet us suggestā€ options, which I turned back off, and they added a whole new A.I. section. Which has a toggle right at the top labeled ā€œBlock A.I. Enhancementsā€. It’s nice that you can still run without. It might not be optional in the future, but whether they’re just trying not to piss off people like myself, or if they’re just trying slow roll / soft launch into it. For now, I’m just glad I can still just not have one more in-your-face, worthless, mandatory, A.I. ā€œhelperā€.

Are there any updates on a possible Vivokey Thermo without a password so its possible to write my own NDEF?

Well, there is never going to be an unkeyed version. Then it can’t be a VK product. Amal was toying with the possibility of writing an app that would manage the NDEF record. I don’t believe it’s on the short list of things to get done for the near future.
