But regardless of that, I value the random stuff that I learn from the derailments. Today I learned that âpaper moneyâ doesnât register properly in the culture of the Old Dart.
Why not? You donât learn anything from shutting up and being the obedient little student⊠This is not school anymore. And these little moments of confusion expand the knowledge and thoughts of everyone involved. Or at least everyone involved who has intellectual humility and curiosity.
I love these little moments of miscommunication. They push me to learn and be better.
The thing is, it wasnât miscommunication. You donât correct someone on something that you are genuinely confused about, you ask them what they meant. By correcting the person while feigning confusion you are being duplicitous because you are claiming one thing while performing another. I do not believe that to be healthy to normalize in a community, and my values direct me to call it out.
Done! I splurged for the extra special unique custom pattern, T shirt. I realized thatâs why theyâre so expensive is each is unique to prevent them from developing a work around for a specific pattern.
What I have learned is that I am not good at navigating the culture of whatever it is these off-topic threads are, and I shouldnât try because the way I feel about certain things does not track at all with how everyone else here feels about them.
It isnât something that I am sure I am right about nor is it something that is important enough to me that I am willing to make a big deal out of it. Sometimes an opinion is just whining, and no one wants to hear that. Iâd rather stick to technical topics, where verification is possible, or philosophy, where logic and rhetoric are a set of rules. In cases of culture or taste, or acceptable behavior and it is just my feelings at stake, Iâd rather not bother; itâs just drama.
