Glow powder mini feedback:
Love the packaging. Split in half baggies will be real nice when I redo my arm in a few days.
Also good heavens this is bright.
Triboelectric nanogenerator - when we can make something like that thatāll be powered by movement, (like a watch), just think of all the usecases with implants. ![]()
If I install a flexsecure, do I now run on java?
Iāve run on java since 2012! ![]()
Itās definitely awesome technology. Unfortunately itās very low power (pacemakers require almost no power), yet requires constant movement (hearts donāt stop beating), and they donāt really store any power so storage is still a big issue if you want to do any āreal workā.
Basically this technology is perfectly suited for powering pacemakers and not much else.
When it comes to energy harvesting, regardless of the generation method, there are two basic approaches. First, generate enough power for the sensor or apparatus to use directly. Second, generate power over time and store it so that higher current applications can periodically use the stored power. The problem with powered implants and energy harvesting has always been safe energy storage. Even simple, low energy Bluetooth requires orders of magnitude more power than a pacemaker does.
This own nothing economy is barreling at our faces faster than Iām comfortable with. Now you canāt even open your own car hood.

haha wtf did i just watch..
Fuck Mercedes for that! But at least their average customer doesnāt know how to open the hood on a regular carā¦
And apparently itās limited to EVs and thereās a release latch hidden behind a trim panel.
That gave me Aeon Flux vibes

Haha it gave me Duke Nuke vibes.

Would a resin encapsulated module be theoretically possible?
Attempts have been madeāit would need to be a brick to not be brittle AF. Are you concerned about durability?
Not concerned exactly, but I do like the idea of the extra protection
just fyi.. to date i donāt think weāve had a single module failure in biopolymer
I have my module on a stiffener with the chip down for that reason. If folks are interested, this is something we could offer.
