I love mine. The ergonomics are surprisingly good and the controls are really nice. Everything I’ve tried to run on it has done really well. Things like No Mans Sky, Dead Cells, Doom, Duke Nukem 3d, and all of the valve games run flawlessly. I’ve tried factorio which runs good but the controls are a little awkward.

I’ve got around 50 hours of online training I already have to do. Maybe I can get another 50 in phishing training. Just got an email saying there’s a $250 bonus if you work 10 OT hours in a 2 week period for this month and next month. Might as well give it a shot lol

Definitely worth getting. I got the 256GB version and then just got a $30 SD card for extra storage (have not noticed any performance downgrades when using a my SD card for games).

It really helps me actually play my games. Whenever I’m on my computer I can get easily distracted with other tasks, but the Steam Deck feels like a console and I treat it like such, no temptations to do anything else but game.

@Aemun said it as well but it bears repeating, it is lighter than I expected, which is great for longer game sessions since it doesn’t feel like a heavy brick. Button placement is great (I also have a Steam Controller so the control schemes it offers are 2nd nature to me) and the trackpads are super responsive if you want to use those for extra inputs. Everything about the handling of the Deck is super nice and is comfortable in the hand.

Emulation was a little difficult for me (I was also trying to emulate switch games so YMMV), but I eventually got it working with the RetroDeck flatpack.

Newer graphically intense games run a little chunky here and there but I have found that reducing the refresh rate to 40Hz and capping the frame rate at 40fps helps a lot with those games (the new Lego Star Wars is a good example, 40Hz is a good sweet spot). Older AAA titles and less intense indie games are perfect though.

I’ve played Binding of Isaac (native Linux game), Metal Gear Rising Revengence, Cult of the Lamb, Tetris Effect, Lego Star Wars, and Stray and I’ve been able to get good performance out of all of them (Cult of the Lamb, Lego, and Stray needed some minor settings adjustments to run smooth).

Just jumping in here - I’ve seen this and I’m curious about it. It’s a very unusal setting, I think, and I consider buying it. Did you like it? Can you recommend it, in general?

I like the game, and I think the price point of $30 is worth the purr-chase. It’s mostly a walking-simulator type game with a couple of action moments here and there when your being chased. Not challenging but definitely great for if you want to relax and enjoy a good story. I think I’m a little over halfway through it right now.

I think the gaming community overhyped it a bit, but anytime there is a cute animal in a game people tend to invest themselves into it. Either way, I’d recommend picking it up if that style of gameplay interests you  :smiley_cat:

Thanks
I really like the strange combo of a cyberpunk-y setting and a cute fluffy protagonist
Guess I wait a bit (it’s on my wishlist, maybe there’s a sale some time), or otherwise I’d just buy it the next time I’m sitting here wondering what to play next

Oh, for anyone here enjoying old-school pixel art - I found this little gem some weeks ago, and it’s free and quite cool, I think:

Quite a dark one, especially the second episode…

Came across this thing:

It’s the Bonebridge bone conduction hearing aid. However, getting one should not affect a person’s hearing. IIRC, cochlear implants have been discussed on the forum for headphone purposes so there might be some interest in this technology as well.

10/10 would wear brightly colored earplugs at the store while jammin to tunes. Total handset off the hook approach to sales pitches, store greetings, and sample offerings.

The company I work for has been doing an on going phishing campaign. Bout two - three times a week I get a phishing email so obvious it baffles me that people fall for it. But alas, people at work fall for it all the time. The training room is always filled with people taking mandatory training.

Great design. I dig the fact that you can have covers for the external device, so you can show it off, instead of trying to blend with an horrible skin pink color.

Could be useful too to get wireless audio in a discrete way. They have this SAMBA 2 GO device which apparently acts as a Bluetooth gateway between a smartphone and the external audio processor.

I’m not deaf at all, but I’d love such a device! Weird to say this, I know. But it’s all part of the ā€œenhancementā€ of an able body.

I just found another YouTube Easter egg that is very similar.

I wouldn’t call this one weird, but still an Easter egg
:easter_egg:

I guess it’s the same explanation

I hope this one does also

Same! Everyone falls for ZooN reset password emails and Chrome security breach even though we’re not allowed to use chrome on our devices.
One day my director of operations for my branch fell for it and immediately sent an email with all caps saying don’t open the email, it’s a phishing attempt!!! XD

speaking of UV vs. Glow in the Dark:

I use vaseline glass salt and pepper shakers in my kitchen. They’re identical to the ones my grandmother had, so I had to have them.

I can’t admit to knowing any kind of chemistry, but I know salt is a dick and will react with a whole Lotta stuff. I can only imagine what it’s thinking about doing and it’s a dirty little mind with the uranium

Uranium Dioxide. So it’s in a much more stable form. Plus sealed inside glass. And only in trace amounts. It’s radiation output is slightly less than the human body’s natural radiation out put.

So, pretty safe and stable.

Just a quick update. got some time today after work with all the parts and got the PicoBoot working.
Not tested the emulators or anything, but Wind Waker and Metal Arms works flawlessly for the 30mins or so I played each.

I love this thing.
