Whatās the deal with Gen3 and gen4 magic Mifare chips?
Makes it sound like theyāre fancier chips emulating a magic mifare as opposed to gen1/2 which are a modified version of the chip?
To be clear, all magic chips are, in some ways, emulating a legitimate mifare chipā¦ they are not just modified mifare chips. The grey market Chinese factories that produce these are just tossing out different options that solve different problems, mostly seen and solved within Chinaā¦ and the rest of the world gets what we gets 
Also there are multiple āgenerationsā for each chip typeā¦ and since all of these magic chips are Chinese grey market effluent vs high brand well planned properly documented and standardized products, weāve ended up with an open source software repo becoming the primary authority for naming conventions and documentation which is all just cobbled together based on observation and reverse engineering.
All this is seat of the pants by everyone from Iceman and RRG to the factories slipping this stuff into the market.

Been playing with an Alexa for shits and giggles
I either donāt care, or Iāll replace it with something secrete eventuallyā¦ but for now just seeing if I like it
Iāve got a lot of basic stuff working, but now I want to get a little less common
Computer macros, power on and off is easy, with wake on lan etcā¦ Iām looking to start up certain programs or change computer rgb settings etc
I use home assistant for pretty much everything. Then I have a few iftt macros setup on my stream deck.
In home assistant I have different automations setup for time of day and different triggers.
I need to get a Wi-Fi valve for my water heater with a moisture sensor. That is a unrealistic fear of mine

Iām trying to do the opposite, Iād like to be able to activate stuff on my computer from a voice assistant
Iftt should be able to assist
I think that Iām already known for being the guy who wants to be as much of a robot as possible. And Iām not going to lie, it would be awesome!
Apparently itās going to more of a pain than I thought
I figured I just need to figure out a way to get Alexa to trigger a hot key or cmd on target computer
Apparently Asus Aura sync lacks any meaningful way to toggle between lighting profiles besides manually selecting them yourself
So now I need to look into signal rgb / open rgb
Thankfully it looks like all of my components are supportedā¦
Just need to see if the free version is functional enough, because I refuse to pay a subscription for rgb controlā¦ Iād pay maybe 20$ once

In a couple hours Iām replacing moly top of the hand custom flexnext with an Apex spectrum. Rip my big fat glowy circle of doom.
Ngl Iām kinda scared. In two years it has become part of my body and this feels a bit like an amputation. I just hope it doesnāt feel too weird afterwards.
Iām also worried Iāll miss the glow. Despite the electronics being dead having the glow made it my favorite implant nevertheless. I would see it everyday when going to bed and whenever I was in the dark which happens a lot in my hobbies.
The spectrum doesnāt have glow and with it being on the back of the hand I canāt help but think that when/if it dies thatās it.
On the other hand itās much smaller, hence easier to remove and will have many more capabilities during its lifespan.
