So this is how the US ended up with octopus looking bridges that are confusing AFâŠ
Just SayingâŠ
Ok. Nobody else post for about 4 hours (which will be midnight here).
I am top of the leaderboard for today.
#lifegoalscompleted
Wish I knew how to screenshot it here. (And here comes Pilgrim).
Love it. Thanks!
I just havenât woken up yet
That went on far longer than it should have
Been a weird few days in ODaily-Land.
My job finally resolved itself. Basically, Iâm laid off at the end of the year, and they told me to just stay home (paid) until then.
College is on a one week break for Thanksgiving.
Between the two, Iâve been overwhelmed and stressed out, and Iâm starting to feel good again. I actually had time to indulge in one of my most satisfying hobbies, going to auctions and scrounging for obscuria.
Todayâs haul took me waiting all day, but it really fits into my collection of Windows physical install media.
Thatâs Windows 8 Upgrade with DVD and COA sticker, Windows 7 Upgrade (for HP) with COA sticker, and both Office 2013 and Outlook 2013, which are just empty boxes with activation codes on cards, but Iâm still counting them.
I may (big maybe) also have gotten a line on a complete set of Windows 3.1 floppy discs.
Having easy access to Amazon is the one thing I miss about Colombia⊠But considering considering that Bogota is rationing the water supply and that some people I know claim that the reservoirs that they have access to are full, as opposed to official reports, and that certain parts of the country are flooding, Iâm pretty happy having reliable power and running water where I amâŠ
Apparently not showering âCrEaTeS cOnScIoUsNeSsâ or something⊠But I find it gross, especially if the reasons are politically motivated. I donât want to have politics in the shower FFS!
Still, I sometimes wonder if I should move somewhere else. Hopefully somewhere above the Amazon in order to have easy access to AmazonâŠ
Oooh, I totally forgot that I went dumpster diving a few days ago and got Windows 2000 Server with Key, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, and Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server 2000 (standard edition) with Key.
We had the same sentiment on the discord. Not trying to shut down discourse, but thereâs only so many circles a conversation can go in before you get dizzy and want to lie down.
France is worth it if youâre a french citizen because of healthcare, retirement, unemployment etc⊠They will tax you for getting up on the left foot but they also pay you for nothing
What if youâre a citizen from another EU country?
Last I checked, they also tax you for getting up on the right footâŠ
I canât really stomach the idea of abusing other tax payers or getting abused as a tax payer. But thatâs where most of the world is headed.
Youâd probably get most of the benefits but would have to do some extra paperwork, or I guess onlineworkâŠ
Yup, and also your morning coffee and shower
A lot of people do abuse it. And even more get complaisant.
But if you use it normally itâs just nice. Itâs nice to have financial support when you quit your job and are looking for a new one. Itâs comforting to know that no matter how bad you fuck up youâll have a roof over your head and food to eat. If you get sick or disabled theyâll take care of it and youâll live a normal lifeâŠ
But if you are a French citizen and never officially/legally worked in France you canât have any of it
Yes and no. You get less but you still get some basics (I havenât technically had a French paycheck yet but Iâm allowed a decent sum just for being jobless currently). Even if youâre an immigrant you get the bare minimum afaik
If you are a French citizen and never had a legal job in France (payed taxes and payed into the system) you do not have free medical care nor any social services. It is the one exception to the French system.
Immigrant (no matter if work/pay taxes) do have access to all of it
WTF!? That makes no sense!
Derailing the derailment thread, am I the only one who loves the idea of robots with two toes?
Asking for myself, in the futureâŠ
I was a student, have the nationality and pay taxes but never a legal job, but still get all that
You donât get unemployment and retirement if you havenât worked but you definitely get healthcare and also RSA and âmutuelle solidaireâ or whatever itâs called and help for paying rent with low revenue
I just know the stuff Iâve used before as a student and later. Iâm sure itâs more complicated though
