Do we know if the implants are under compression once they get encapsulated? Does the encapsulation tend to shrink?

No it doesnât after the initial set. Outside the working temperature range the flex biopolymer is very mechanically stable, itâs not really plausible for it to be under compression or tension internally like glass or hard resins can be. Because itâs in sheets it is liable to get kinks at steep bend angles though, and it will kind of buckle. Because itâs so strong, the interior of the bend becomes under compression and the exterior of the bend becomes under tension, which helps naturally straighten it out. In the knife edge connective tissue is way stronger than the biopolymer on the side of the PCB with the hole though so if the install was very stressful youâre bound to get kinks.
