Brother… This is a hobby that is a labor of love. All switches out the gate can be improved by lubing them with some Krytox. it takes time but the reward is worth it. how many keys is that soffie? I have some holy panda’s collecting dust, ill send them to you and you may fall in love with tactiles. Perfect thock with just the right feedback and no click. best of both worlds.

Its so difficult. i waited a whole 2 months for mine to heal because i was so worried of my finger rejecting it. but now its like i forget it is there most times until i grab a pipe or find a screw stuck to it. resist the urge!

Yeah, I got a bit worried because -

(Context, I drive a lot and have habitually only steered with my left hand because one of my previous cars was a manual and my daily is sequential.) -

I banged knuckles around the outside of my steering wheel last night while doing a silly little maneuver, and the whole area got red and bruised up as bad as 1 hour after install.

It got better overnight but holy shit was I worried that I had compromised the healing process or had an infection.

thats what i am starting to learn, found another rabit hole/hoby/money pit to fall into
the sofle is 58 keys, and the board can take choc or MX (I dont think you can do both at the same time)

I left a heavy bandage for a few weeks on mine to avoid any issue and as a remionder to not mess with it

Oh, a bandage will give my brain every reason to itch it or otherwise screw with it. Plus it’s kinda a PITA spot for a bandaid.

I tried that with my NExT install, and it was… Unsuccessful.

I’ve allowed myself to clean it when the entry is dirty + lotion every night to help with minimising the scar, but other than that (and viewing film), I am doing my best to avoid it.

Hey this one is significantly cheaper than most.

You can get a syringe of krytox and a really cheap switch opener and a small paintbrush from Michael’s and be fine. You don’t need anything fancy.

The hobby is relaxing and you don’t need to switch to any premium boards. I ran a SAT75 as my daily for 4 years. I’m running a zoom75 now but intend to switch back to the SAT75 when I get the new board in.
