I donāt know if mold hates me as much as I hate it, or if itās something else but I really want to leave flesh behind right nowā¦

On Ebaumsworld.
Pretty sure somebody will recognize #10
I recognized a fewā¦
#1 isnāt technically an implant
#10 is a classic
Isnāt #13 a peg leg?
Thereās a version of #19 in which the transducer is implanted and the exterior unit attaches like the ones on cochlear implants.
#22 is most likely fake.
Assuming you meant #12, thatās the Circadia
While this might have the same degrees of freedom as a human except for the face, itās kinda creepy⦠Something something uncanny valley.
But I guess that this sort of thing will lead to better prosthetics in the long run. After all, I think that most people would prefer a replacement thatās as close as possible to biology instead of going with something thatās different even if it was better overall.
Iām still asking to be put in a Boston Dynamics Atlas and not something that emulates flesh, thank you very much.
I came here to post this lol
Oh good they can look human when they start attackingā¦
Looks like me if I dare skip a couple meals
I wonder if itās a movie prop?
Dropping this here because of the recent uptick in flexEMs: mine died a couple of months ago. Should you be worried? Probably not. Mine is in a pretty mobile spot and it is well documented that I beat the hell out of it. April of 2021 until sometime in Decemberāit hasnāt been a daily use in a bit. 3 years and 8 months.
And since the talk of Apex failures has been on folksā minds, next month my Apex Mega will have been in for 3 years. Back of the wrist with the direction of install being from the elbow to ensure any migration would be away from the point of flexion. It doesnāt seem to move in slightest when run my hand through the full range of motion. Time will tell.
@tac0s ā¦
We all need a little tac0s in our lives.
Peppa Pig?
I know what itās supposed to be, but im going with āSpicey Babeā
The algorithm popped this video up for me.
His channel looks interesting. Basically heās built a replacement hand for his 4 missing fingers, and apparently is trying to run a trial for other people. Not sure if heās gonna open source or not. Still, very interesting.
Iāve always said Iām not giving up my meat, but if a tragic accident were to happen, I would deep dive into creating something like this.
Also, @enginerd, cause this will tickle your interest.
Canāt believe DARPA hasnāt dropped off a half dozen tanks and a briefcase full of cash and told them to call back when theyāre ready to roll.
A mobile X-ray machine popped up at a local auction, i know a few of you were looking on one (@amal ; @Hamspiced ; anyone else?)
Still interested?
Iāve always thought it strange how much effort we spend emulating what we have instead of perusing an easier, cheaper, or better solution. When I was at Disneyland as a kid, I saw Asimov on stage, and they demonstrated all the work theyād done to get it to balance on two legs. I thought it rather dumb that they didnāt simply give it more legs.
With ML, legs have become viable, but wheels have become even more viable as well, as in Pilgremasterās post. Iād rather be uploaded into that cool bike rather than the humanoid puppet. I see that project branching on the one hand into new and creative ways of assembling tendon-based machines, and on the other hand, providing the AI with bodies to impersonate us on the streets like they already do online. Which certainly would be handy if ever I become an AI that needs to pretend to still be human.
hahah! i see what you did there
yes!
