So Amal or handheld-food god, any wisdom as to why these v1 field detectors showed up on eBay?
yep… once upon a time we used Ingram Micro’s shipping and fulfillment service Shipwire. The fine print had some pretty appalling allowances for lost product… up to 1% physical inventory “shrinkage” per quarter! Well, that was nothing to the outright theft that happened when Shipwire moved warehouses.
We were informed that services and shipments would be unavailable for like 3 weeks while Shipwire moved their entire warehouse full of everybody’s stuff. Once they were back online, low and behold we had entire master cases full of product that “was not checked in at the new warehouse”. Come to find out they hired a 3rd party moving service staffed with nothing but dirty thieving bastards. I guess it’s somewhat common for these types of moves for the “movers” to basically load shit onto trucks under watch at Warehouse 1 but toss shit off the back of the truck on the way to Warehouse 2 where the unload everything under watch. Accomplices simply pick up the tossed boxes from the streets and ditches.
Because these were entire unopened master cases, we lost 100s of small items like RDC and xFD… tons of implants too… basically we lost a ton of stuff, and none of it was covered by Shipwire because they had fine print we didn’t pay attention to (we’ve learned our lesson since). Pretty much immediately all that shit was showing up on eBay under various accounts… then eventually it ends up on wholesaler accounts like the one listed above.
- eBay does not care if people are selling stolen goods. They have no straightforward way to report it or deal with it.
- Since the lost items are not serialized, there is no police report to link to specific products for sale on eBay.
- eBay will not release contact information about sellers unless bid to do so by law, which is expensive.
Ultimately thieves win.
I thought that was going to be about OS/2 Warp when I saw the title
This looks interesting and worth a spin
What a load of crooks.
I was in the same position as you when I was choosing my first implant. I played it safe for the first one. Xsiid. Can be read and written with my phone and install could be done by me. Since getting it I’ve learned an immense amount just being a member of the forums here.
Thanks, they talked me into one of the flex products in the other thread due to the increased read range. I did get the sampler package of your range increasers (usps delivery says today but last scan was half way across the country so I’m less than confident). I was thinking of also getting a blinking one… but I also need a proxmark so maybe getting the bundle… that means I also get one of the 125mhz ones… and might as well get a magnet… and I still dont know what I’m doing and I’m running out of real estate.
Magnets are a game changer if you work on small parts and need a screw holder.
My next one will likely be a flex.
First thank you! Yes USPS seems to be hit or miss lately with their delivery windows. Make sure you use code pilgrimsmaster at checkout to save some money man.
Do the robots bleed?
No they leak
Controlled Lubrication
I prefer replacing parts… Resin can be a bit messy and make things harder to repair in the future.
see.
Apparently a good chunk of NOAA got fired yesterday. I think that decision is almost certainly going to reduce the effectiveness of the NWS and get people killed.
A post was merged into an existing topic: So derailed it’s not even on the ground!
So I’ve been looking for a small portable rechargeable lamp of some sort. But something that can be used with an existing power bank could also work.
I’ve been looking at a few options and they’re mostly Chinese garbage by the look of things, so I’m gravitating towards a cheap USB gooseneck lamp for one of my power banks.
Do you 'borgs have any other ideas or suggestions?
