Neither the friend Iām seeing or I would really be talking to strangers, let alone talking to them about hot button topics.

Thatās generally good advice no matter where you are.
And itās even more important when talking with people from other countries. One countryās left wing might be surprisingly simple to anotherās right wing and this makes it very easy to get misunderstood. As if political stuff wasnāt bad enough alreadyā¦
We should probably abolish all governments. Without politics everything would be significantly easier.

which is silly, because, generally most people agree on most topics, itās just a few things where there is a different viewpoint or opinion.
People just need to chill the fuck out.

(Not saying good or bad in any of this, just my take on the current state of mood.)
This is weirdly different than that. Arkansas is a MAGA hotbed. If you ask the faithful what their positions are youāll get a laundry list of things that theyāre definitely absolutely against. Almost nothing theyāre for. They define themselves in opposition. Frankly, I think theyād have been much much happier as a minority party.
Well, they won. Itās like the old saying about being careful what you wish for.
Now that theyāre in control, they have nothing to rage against. If they donāt like something they canāt rant about it, cause theyāre in control of it, and just end up getting what they demanded.
Then what??? If your identity is opposition and you clear out the opposition, who are you? Most MAGA adherents I know seem a bit lost. They try replaying the greatest hits, but they already got/won that.
Another layer is starting to form on top of that. Basically, most of them werenāt prepared for the results of what they demanded. Punishing your enemies with tariffs is great, but why are MY prices going up. Sticking it to Wall Street Elites is amazing, but WTF happened to my 401k?
Thereās nothing more dangerous and highly charged than a large group of people who feel lost and angry. If it brews into a proper storm, it could, rapidly, coalesce onto a focus person / group / idea. The results would beā¦ not good.

Abolish all politicians, make everyone pass a civics test, people with higher scores go into a lottery type system where random people are chosen to govern for a short while. Without campaign / re-election concerns, lobbyists would have very little footing to fundamentally affect the process of governing. If you want to keep voting a thing, modify the lottery process to simply making it a lottery pool of people you can vote for in a snap election with very little window for campaigning.

I was trying to sort a problem a little bit back on Mastercam. I thought Iād found the answer, until I realized it referenced V9, which came out in 2002. Yup, thatās 23 years later.
