So my car has an old integrated gps screen, which is useless to me. The only interesting thing I can do with it is load a bunch of images on the sd card and do a slideshow.
I’ve been trying to think of something smart to do with it other than have pictures pf hot models which would be too distracting when driving.
I can set the interval between 1sec and 1min and there is a quick slide to the left animation between pictures.
My initial thought was to set it at 1sec and have a 1fps video playing (something like the x-wing screen when targeting an enemy) but I’m not sure it’s gonna look good.

I’m definitely going to try and mess around with this thing’s OS and hack it but in the meantime do you have any other ideas?
I can also have a static image on there so maybe some useful driving memo or something.

Just take frames from that video at whatever looks good and save them individually, and play at 1per sec on you car stereo

I need to either take advantage of the animation or go for something static.

More things I need to try:

• for the car icons it uses red as transparency (bmp) I wonder if that works on the slideshow and what’s behind it.

• I wonder if it supports other formats, maybe Gifs or videos? Probably not, worth a shot

• These images are exactly the size of the screen, I wonder how it handles bigger/smaller ones

• I believe it uses jar files for some animations… Maybe that’s something to look into

Probably but that’s a lot of work to get in there and I’m not sure it’s a standard screen that I can find an adapter for.
I might as well just place one over it (a toutch screen) and I’d rather find one running android so it just needs to be plugged in. Basically a tablet
