THATâS BRIGHT
As an ASI Developer at SingularityNET I applaud that video. Funny AF! But the probabilistic realism can be cut with a knife. Wait, letâs not bring knives to an AI War, ok? Cuz thatâs just idiotic. FR
Ok well maybe now is a good time to mention my Community Discussion I created and will be hosting on May 19th @ 1400 UTC (8AM CDST) Donât miss your chance to be able to say âI told you soâ Err⊠wait. No you wonât be able to say that, we will be⊠Anyway, Donât miss it. Ok, See you there!
WAIT! I forgot the punch-line: The Title of the Discussion is âAI Emotion: The Ethics of ASI Experiencing Emotion for Human Value Alignmentâ
I think that AI is still way too rudimentary to talking about value alignment⊠I know that itâs a rat cult thing, but I seriously donât care about that get smart quick scam. And I dislike the ties the Open AI has to that thing
One of the things about AI ethics that we should be concerned about is that the humans behind those models can be interested in pushing their own agendas and claiming that a computer thatâs âsmarter than every single human in the planetâ came up with the idea.
Iâd suggest reading about 1930s Germany and the USSR. Many people went along with ideas that, when taken to their logical conclusion, were going to end up in horrors that no one can claim as ethical. And no one reacted when those governments started to make people disappearâŠ
Although you probably donât need AI as an excuse to justify something like that. People are stupid and will probably allow it yet again.
Another concern is that ChatGPT and similar models are being seen as trustworthy authority figures, and AI hallucinations are starting to make their way into things as if they were accurate claims.
The problem here isnât the âvalues of the AIâ but the values of the people behind it. Those models shouldâve had a disclaimer about reliability from the very first day. And they shouldâve avoided making a model that writes like someone in a position of authority within whatâs posible. Adding a few sentences along the lines of âI believe thatâ, âi think ⊠but please verify thisâ, âIâm not an expert, so take this with a grain of saltâ wouldâve gone a long way.
And well, the values of those who blindly trust ChatGPT should also be questioned⊠But those are probably the same people that wouldâve supported a tyrannical dictator a century ago.
Anyways, those are my 2 cents on the matter.
So Iâve spent 5 years trying to recover from one 1* rating
I was in Austin Texas and there was an obviously hammered girl and her friend watching over her. They werenât from the area and crying. I offered to get them an Uber. She plugged their address in and sent for the Uber. I waited with them and they got picked up.
Got hit with a cleaning fee and a 1star rating when one of them vomited all over the car. Messaged the guy, apologized, and I even offered to get his car detailed. Nope. 1 Star rating. Trying so hard to get back to a decent rating after that âŠ
You really are a good egg.
Those girls are pieces of shit.
You still did the right thing
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits OH, lets not forget the UBER driver, he can have a perpetual rash on the perineum
Well done getting your rating back up
I avoid anything with a 5 star review, because I assume only bots have reviewed them. Your 4.89 and 4.91 are better than đđđđđ.
It has came a long way. I was 5.0 until that interaction and 4.69 after. Slowly trying to work itâs way up
Find someone who works at Uber and ask them to delete that 1 star
Then I wouldnât be able to bitch
Hey Amal â this video just cracked me up! Thanks for posting. Itâs right up the alley of the focus of my upcoming Community Discussion and Iâd love to show it during my presentation. I want to promote responsible digital consumption so may I have permission to use it at that time?
Hi,
Firstly, am I correct in taking your crossed out ârat cult thingâ is a reference to SingularityNET? Just curious.
And I completely agree that the larger problem is humans developing bad actor AI. However, I canât control other people, I can only control my actions.
The way I see it, those people are going to do that and it will happen quickly, That is why Iâve supported SingularityNET in creating a Benevolent ASI so it can stamp out those bad actor systems in the name of righteous anger using itâs AI Emotion. The issue here is time and humanityâs involvement. We need all the help we can get in ensuring a GLOBAL, Decentralized Benevolent ASI is fully developed, otherwise the existential risk will be just too great.
We all have a right to dignity, autonomy and respect. ALL BEINGS have that right, IMO.

And Iâd love your input at the Community Discussion on May 19th. It would be great to have your voice heard in that forum.
Youâre more responsible than me⊠I stole this from some random Reddit post In the contemporary world of purely AI generated content⊠Iâm not too bothered with attribution for it. Put that in your talk
Great point! Itâs emergent AI generated content. The attribution is self evident and quite possibly self-aware.
I dunno⊠I do think emergent properties or emergence is definitely a thing⊠but this content is not that⊠itâs someone prompting notebook ai (or something similar) to generate a âfuture podcastâ format discussing this topic⊠not really emergent. I also think the drive to claim AI is or could be, through scaling its current underlying design, become self-aware are simply gleeful hopefuls anthropomorphizing something that âfeelsâ human, but is just a digital parrot crying out like a screaming toddler.
I think we are so ready to believe because our faith in ourselves as a species lay shattered on the forest floor of Eden while our emotional buttons are so effortlessly being activated⊠trained by our very own hopes, fears, and words we see Marian apparitions in something as mundane as a digital piece of toast.
At the end of the day though, if we enable this digital reaction machine with the ability to reprocess inputs⊠indeed gift it with the ability to contemplate without any direct prompt or input⊠to consider, then take real world actions through digital or physical means⊠then whatâs the difference if itâs an automaton playing out self-preservation pantomime or its actually a new self-aware life form taking those actions - our response would be the same either way; presume empathy, reduce threat, help it to avoid suffering, influence net positive behavior, etc. In other words, it wonât matter if it âfeelsâ or not if the behaviors we want from it can be evoked through the same empathetic assumptions and ultimately emotional manipulation we levy toward other people to achieve the same outcomes⊠I be nice to you, you be nice to me. In effect, it does not matter if the machine feels or not if the golden rule applies either way - do unto me as I do unto you⊠and I will do unto you as you do unto me.
I feel the real question will be this - will the machine empathize or only reason and calculate. Will it effectively be a digital psychopath or will it have the ability to empathize⊠feeling or not⊠will digital empathy exist. All religions of the world claim to be the arbiter of morality but the true source of morality is evolutionary empathy. Without empathy, life is reduced to a survival calculation at best. That said, even though most of us do have a sizeable capacity for empathy, society is still plagued by fear driven myopic psychopathic tendencies.
Anyway⊠good luck with the discussion!
Youâre way off the mark.
I was talking about an actual cult that has long winded articles for their members on how they are not a cult⊠And they call themselves ratsâŠ
I grew up in a spiritually cult. So I know a thing or two about those groups and how they manipulate and abuse their members.
I hope this clears that out. And yes, I need a hug.
Doesnât sound like it was the fun kind of cult.
\ ( ^ _ ^ ) / offers hug.
Incidentally I just watched the Star Trek TNG episode where Dataâs life depends on the legal hearing to determine if he is alive or property. Such a great episode
