And… it’s kinda gone. Not completely but almost. I might have sweated it out in the velomobile on my commute back home.
Maybe I caused it: yesterday and this morning, I worked in the workshop. Beaucoup filing, screwdriver twisting, working the milling machine. First time since the implant job. My entire arm is kind of sore from the sudden surge of activity actually. Maybe it was enough for the implant to bite the edges of the pocket more than usual and cause some micro-bleeding.
Hey, thanks a lot you two! bows gracefully
Honestly, I’m still sooooo freakin happy about it, I’d recommend it to everyone slightly interested (and actually do…^^). It healed up easily, looks great in daylight and amazing at night and “is just there”. I barely notice it, unless I want to, it doesn’t hinder my movement (strange, since it’s literally sitting on my tendons) and doesn’t hurt at all - people who see it occasionally want to push it (it’s a power-button, after all!), and I allow it to some, and even this doesn’t hurt
The flexNExT is a bit more bitchy, still, but as it is some weeks younger, it is kinda allowed to But still, it’s nothing I’d consider “easy going” - mine is still swollen because I worked to much with my hands (currently no time for a couchmarathon, sadly…).
I keep my fingers crossed… Take your time with that one, I guess it might take a lot longer to “really” heal than one might think.
I have to say, I’m coming around to your point of view: when the doNExT will have been under my skin long enough that I’ll be 100% sure it won’t trigger some odd bodily reaction, I’ll feel I’ll have earned that one
HaHAA! Finally!
That’s what I meant, you have to take care of it (and yourself) for quite some time, be patient and all that, and then, finally, it will integrate into your body and become a part of you, and you will be happy with it At least, I hope so…^^
Ooooh, that makes my mind create funny ideas…
Like, you can basically shape the resin any way you want, don’t you?
Soooo… it would be kinda possible to make a custom shape (without any chip or LED inside) that would behave just like my powerbutton? And that glow powder stuff is even available in different colours?
Believe me, you have to jump into the bodymod-community, I think there would be a LOT of interest in things like that!
Why do I have the feeling that if Amal starts dabbling in purely cosmetic implants, he’ll have an angry mob of bodymodders and manufacturers of subdermals at his doorstep?
Because that might very well happen.
Especially if he doesn’t sterilize the stuff he sells, that might lead to quite a big “angry mob”. Maybe I didn’t think that through…
Buuuuuut - still, would it be possible? I’m totally fine with being the only person interested in that, as long as it is (custom made) possible and more or less safe
Just thought about a “bigger market” for Amal, in a way^^
I once ordered a Big Mac without cheese, beef patty, pickles, onions, salad or ketchup at McDonald’s, to see if I could piss off the waitress. To my dismay, they gave me two buns and I paid the price of a Big Mac. Joke was on me.
If you order a flexNExT without chips, that’s exactly what will happen: most certainly, it will be a real, completely doable “cyborg” DT custom order, but it won’t be cheap
I paid 500,- for a magnet without knowing if I’ll ever get one - guess I’m okay with that
I’m not yet sure how I would integrate something like that (if it’s even possible to make) into my bodymods, nor am I yet sure how “full-body” my mod is going to be - I’ll find that out in less than two weeks, after that I’ll know if I would survive a full body scarification. If I do, I might want to add some glowing stuff, but I’d talk that through with my artist, of course - so, it’s all pretty hypothetical by now, but I like to keep things like that in my mind. Might need it later
Just got done looking at the site. Sadly, there are very few that glow. I could see if I can order a carving block, but then I would have to learn to carve that to what I want.
It is like you want my money or something.
I have considered reaching out to ask you about a custom one that lights up and glows, or just an x series that I have to charge. I feel like I remember you mentioning something about it being more difficult to do just an x-series with it.
I just am still hesitant to get a larger implant like what you showed up there. If I do, I am more leaning toward a cosmetic one like Coma.
I still plan to install whatever flex device that is needed that will act like the Yubikey, regardless of size. (Apex I imagine)
Yeah, it’s only the little stars and the power button - even the silicone blocks you can buy from Haworth are the non-glowing ones. But as far as I know, he does custom work as well… if you are really patient. So if you have a special design in your mind, you might just want to contact him and ask if it’s possible
To be honest, I am not against it. I would rather pay Amal a good amount of money for an implant that will let me manage my passwords first. Functionality first. Amal, any chance you can make something like that? Most likely I will have to wait for the Apex line also.
To go further, I am on the edge of seeing if I can pay a stupid amount just to have a “yubikey” implant.
