Hello Everyone,

As your units arrive, we want to address one thing you’ll likely notice, and give you a clear picture of where the M1 stands today.

About update.monstatek.com

You’ll see this URL in your printed Quick Start Guide. It isn’t live yet. The guide went to print before launch to satisfy certification requirements, and at the time, including the final portal address felt like a smart, future-proof move — the kind of decision that looks great on a whiteboard. In practice, it means you’re holding a manual that references a website that doesn’t exist yet. Sorry, we jumped the gun on that one.

In the meantime, our public repo is open at GitHub - Monstatek/M1: Monstatek M1 Open Source Repository. when firmware updates are ready, they’ll be routed through there for now.

We’ll also announce the moment the web updater is live.

What’s working right now

The short answer: almost everything. Here’s a full breakdown of what’s live in the current firmware:

125 kHz RFID — Read, write, emulate, save, and load tags. Supports EM4100 and HID H10301 protocols, plus T5577 write capability.

NFC (13.56 MHz) — Read, emulate, and edit tags. Save and load .nfc files, view detailed tag info, and manage your saved files directly on the device.

Infrared — Learn and save remotes, load saved profiles, and transmit and receive IR signals. Universal Remote Profiles are present in the firmware and will be fully activated within the next 3–5 weeks.

Sub-GHz — Record, replay, and read RF signals across frequencies.

Bluetooth — Scan for nearby devices and advertise the M1.

WiFi — Scan for available access points.

USB — Virtual COM port and mass storage mode both supported.

If you’ve poked around the current firmware, you’ve probably noticed that the Tools, Utilities, and Config submenus currently show “Please Update Firmware” — that’s the first glimpse at what’s ahead. Those menus are where new tools and functions will land as we roll them out. We’ll be announcing each one right here in the campaign updates as they come.

The M1 is designed to get more capable over time. More functions, more tools, more applications.
