The M1: A Compact Multitool for Technophiles and Hackers

Thank you again to all of our backers for your continued patience and support. We are providing this update to keep you clearly informed about where things stand and to explain a change to our fulfillment plan: we will now ship Canadian MonstaTek M1 orders first, before the original combined Canada/U.S. group.

All Canadian MonstaTek M1 units are fully built, tested, and waiting at the factory for their dedicated shipment. They will be flown directly to Canada, where they will be processed, sorted, and shipped to individual backers. This air shipment ensures we remain on schedule despite the change in routing, and we will of course absorb the additional cost ourselves, as we should. (Originally these units were planned to be bulk-shipped to Easyship’s Los Angeles warehouse alongside U.S. rewards.)

Our original plan combined Canada and the U.S. for lower costs, assuming approvals would happen around the same time.

The U.S. government shutdown, which lasted 43 days, ended on November 12, 2025, with funding through late January 2026. The FCC is starting up again, but there might be some short waits due to backlog and new filings. In the past, new applications can start 1–3 business days after reopening. Our full FCC package is ready to submit once the system is up. After approval, U.S. shipments will start with updated labels and shipping arranged. Other areas that need the FCC approval for import or carriers will follow, using the same built stock. To be clear: there’s no problem with the MonstaTek M1 itself. Testing is complete. The hold-up is just paperwork from government systems.

For our European backers, CE and RED compliance are moving ahead separately. The same lab tests used for FCC are helping show we meet EU rules for radio, EMC, and safety under the Radio Equipment Directive. We are putting together the technical files and writing the EU Declaration of Conformity that lists the right standards. Once done, the product will have the CE mark and needed info.

Canada Fulfillment: Will move ahead as planned. Canada’s units are fully built, tested

USA Fulfillment: As soon as the FCC starts handling approvals, which should be soon now that the government is open (operations restarted November 12–13, 2025, with possible short delays from backlog). A

Europe Fulfillment: As soon as we finish the new RED Directive paperwork and CE marking.

Rest of the World : By region and backer number

We want to make all backers aware of several ongoing issues related to PledgeManager that may affect a portion of users:

Apple Relay Email Addresses
Backers using Apple’s ā€œHide My Emailā€ (Apple Relay) may not receive PledgeManager notifications. This is a limitation on Apple’s side, and these email addresses often block or fail to forward messages from PledgeManager.

PledgeManager Payment Processing Issues
Some backers have reported that their payments in PledgeManager are not being processed correctly. This may include failed charges, repeated attempts, or the payment page not updating after completion.

Address Change Errors
A number of users are experiencing difficulty updating their shipping address within PledgeManager.

If you are encountering any of the above issues, please contact PledgeManager Support directly at support@pledgemanager.com. They will be able to resolve account-specific problems and ensure your information is correctly updated in the system.

We’re eager to start rolling out shipments now that key approvals are progressing rapidly. Canadian backers will be first in line, with Wave 1 launching. U.S. and international backers follow in Wave 2, kicking off as soon as FCC grants resume their normal pace post-reopening. We’ll continue with subsequent waves into December, ensuring everyone gets their MonstaTek M1 efficiently. Overall, the first arrivals are set for the this month, with steady progress to wrap up fulfillments soon after.

While sitting here waiting for them to get a move on, I noticed a campaign for another gadget has been launched on KS, the ā€œKode Dotā€ I put a pledge in to reserve one and now have a few days to work out whether it is worth it. What do you guys think?

So, are any these three new contenders proposing anything interesting? It wouldn’t be the first time that a project on Kickstarter has taken so long to come into production that the market was already full of more up-to-date competitors. The M1 is now a year and a half beyond its predicted shipping date.

Of the 3 the Kode Dot looks the most interesting to me, but as you imply, how may of the ā€œsame thingā€ do you need.

They are not PokĆ©mon, you dont have to catch 'em all…

@Pilgrimsmaster I backed the Kode Dot. Do you want me to make another thread and post their kickstarter updates there?

That might be tidier

The highboy I’m all for. It’s a Brazilian kid that started it since flippers are not available in his country.

Brazil did ban the Flipper IIRC. And sadly, I doubt that being made in Brazil will protect the Highboy from the same government overreach and the South American cultures that breed an attitude of asking for overreach, whether it is from friends, family, coworkers, or the government…

Sure, getting around those problems is a great thing to do that becomes admirable when you live in a third world country for some odd reason. But having dealt with similar problems, I personally lament how much effort and potential ends up being wasted on reinventing the wheel or finding workarounds because of the restrictions imposed by the least productive members of these societies on those who are more individualistic, productive, and unwilling to take no for an answer.

Anyways, I’m derailing the thread with my own extensive experience of the Spanish speaking parts of the region… I better continue on the drink8ng thread.

I hope that it ends up being a great product and it gets proper software support.

From my limited understanding in speaking with vini. The goal is not to just make the highboy but to also release the entire project open-source. So the raw board can be ordered and assembled if desired.

That will indeed make bans unenforceable. And I did notice that on their website.

Hello everyone,

We’d like to begin this update by sincerely thanking you all for your continued support and patience. Having such a dedicated community behind MonstaTek has made a real difference, and we’re truly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us as we’ve worked through the final steps.

Today, we’re providing a detailed status report on regulatory approvals along with the planned shipping timeline for backers.

Asia Shipping Status

We have a specific update for our backers in Asia regarding the first 2,000 orders:

Regional Transit: All Wave 1 units for Asia (Backers 1–2,000) have already been dispatched from the factory and are currently being moved to our regional fulfillment center.

Fulfillment Processing: Once these units reach the center, they must be sorted and repackaged for individual delivery. This stage is managed by our 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) partner—an outside warehouse and distribution provider that handles the storage, packing, and shipping of our products.

Holiday Volume Notice: Our 3PL has advised us that, due to the high volume of shipments typical for this time of year, processing and sorting are taking slightly longer than usual. They are working through the queue as quickly as possible.

Tracking Updates: Tracking numbers are issued only once your individual order has been packed and labeled for the final courier. You will receive an automated email with your tracking details at the moment your package is ready for last-mile delivery.

North America Regulatory Update

We’ve been working to clear the remaining regulatory requirements, and despite some recent external delays outside our control, we’re pleased to share positive progress:

United States (FCC): The processing backlog caused by the recent government shutdown has now been resolved. We have received the final FCC grant, which clears the way for shipping to the US to begin.

Canada (ISED): This required a separate certification process from the US filing, and we’re happy to confirm that it is now complete. Shipments to Canada are fully authorized to proceed.

Shipping Waves and Timeline

To manage logistics effectively and ensure each package is handled carefully, fulfillment will proceed in four sequential waves based on backer number. Here is the current estimated timeline (please note that all dates are approximate and subject to final logistics flow):

Wave 1 (Backers 1 – 2,000): Shipping is currently in progress and will continue through mid-January.

Wave 2 (Backers 2,001 – 4,000): Planned for mid-January through late January.

Wave 3 (Backers 4,001 – 7,000): Planned for late January.

Wave 4 (Backers 7,001 and above): Planned for late January into early February.

We will post brief confirmations as each wave completes successfully to keep everyone updated on overall progress.

EU, UK, and South America Update

We remain fully committed to delivering to our international backers and are actively progressing the remaining regional requirements. We appreciate your ongoing patience in these areas.

EU and UK: These regions require separate CE RED (Radio Equipment Directive) certification. We are in the final stages of this process and will share a dedicated update as soon as the certifications are granted and we have confirmed shipping windows.

South America: Local import regulations vary considerably by country. We are working closely with our logistics partners to review each case and ensure compliant delivery. Some countries may involve additional steps, and we will provide more detailed guidance as it becomes available.

Rest of World (ROW)

For backers in regions not explicitly listed in the waves above (including Oceania, Southeast Asia, and other international territories), we are utilizing a Consolidated Freight shipping model. We are currently finalizing the consolidation of these remaining ROW orders. This process ensures we meet the volume requirements for secure, bulk transit. We will provide a specific shipping window for these regions as soon as the consolidated shipments are booked and the local hubs are ready to receive them.

This progress wouldn’t be possible without the support of this community, and we thank you again for being part of the MonstaTek journey.

We’ll continue to provide updates—short progress notes as waves conclude and more comprehensive ones for major developments. As always, please feel free to post questions in the comments or contact support if needed.

Questions & Clarifications

We know that logistics can be complex, and we want to ensure you feel fully informed as your MonstaTek unit makes its way to you.

If you have any questions about the 3PL process, specific regional requirements, or how the wave system works, please reach out. Whether you prefer to post in the comments or contact our support team directly, we are happy to provide further clarification

Well, non-flipper Flippers are gaining a big advantage thanks to people who don’t understand security…

I was an early bird-ish, but down in the bottom of the planet, and going off my Flipper experience, I’ll likely be one of the last to get mine, and possibly even after the retail version is available.

Time will tell, and so will I , once I get my hands on it

My Backer number is between 500 and 1,000 (not disclosing for security reasons) so I should be one of the first to get it. But I have not received any shipping info yet.

Yeah mine’s up in the 5k range… so it’ll be a bit. Hopefully sometime this year though.
