The official Titan crowdfunding campaign thread

Yet again, @anon3825968, I agree with you 99%, so that is 198% so far.
To make TiO2 you need a lamp that radiates UV-C, that is cheaper than laser for sure, also you can disinfect with that. I support the investment though.
The purpose is novelty, that I totally agree with, and that is my 1% .
I am sentimental enough to want something otherwise useless etched in my magnet if there is a chance to get it.

I have sentimental tattoos, and the orientation of my other magnet was chosen based on a rather sentimental decision. Some engraves the wedding rings… some wants magnets to be engraved.

Fair enough

The laser sounds cool and all, and just… LASERS, right?

But I think I get hung up here.

If we do laser, then how about a serial number? Dibs on 0 and 1.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

Personally? I would rather he use some to benefit the community as a whole, if that is a laser machine to do laser things with, cool. I hope so. I would like to think milestones reached on a community campaign, would be milestones that benefit all who supported. If this is that cooky milestone that gives a odd thing, sweet. We get a really odd ā€œsecretā€ and he gets a laser thingie.

Also personally. His shop. His rules. I am getting what I want out of it. When I bought one, I was only aware of me getting the magnet for $500. If he only needed $70 per person, and he pocketed the other $430, oh well. I wanted the product bad enough to get it, and he is a smart business man to offer it.

Dibs on 666

It can be a magicTitan

Edit: Actually, I don’t want that number for this implamt. I would rather it be on a glowing one.

So I know very little about these. Would you also be able to etch ā€œchannelsā€ into a flex so it wouldn’t spin?

I have never heard of him using titanium, only parylene coatings. I mean, it’s possible… but somehow I doubt it. Everyone I’ve ever heard of having a ā€œsamppa magnetā€ has a parylene coated one. Do you know anyone who actually has a Ti ā€œcoatedā€ magnet from Samppa? Do you know how it was coated? PVD? CVD? The m31 was PVD coated in TiN (titanium nitride) and this was an utter failure… but Samppa wanted to corner the market on the m31 and wanted exclusive rights to sell and install it… we refused… he got all pissy and told us ā€œfilthy biohackersā€ to ā€œstay out of his industryā€ā€¦ that’s the last I ever talked to him.

I could see doing the top and bottom surfaces easy enough but probably not the perimeter (side of the cylinder)… the laser setup is not really good for that and it’s not really necessary.

Indeed… osteointegration is a big deal for tooth implant anchors and the like, and the TiO2 they use is seriously thick and usually achieved through various chemical means… the films we’re talking about achieving with the laser are literally the thickness of wavelength of the target color… nanometer scale… which is not thick enough for any type of tissue integration.

Yes this is the case… I’ve tested some biopoly cuts on an industrial CO2 laser and while we did have some issues with burning and char marks, I think it was that the laser was too high power and we will have an opportunity to ā€œdial it inā€ to cut much finer detail into the biopoly.

Hmm not a bad idea actually… though it might be extremely tiny hah… still… not a bad idea. If we did serialize, it would definitely be by the backer order

That is one of the goals actually. If I ever get around to setting up that Patreon channel I’d make little ā€œAmal’s Labā€ vids for subs and show off things here and there… but yes, this is a good idea. The magic of this would be that I would not have to make dies to get tiny cut features in between sensitive components or areas of the device… in theory anyway… lots of testing needs to be done of course.

Gotta say I agree, if part of backing this goes into improving the shop that just means even cooler stuff in the future. Although a great stretch goal would be bribe money for the credit card companies… I have a feeling not even this community can raise that much. Lol

possibly  what did you have in mind?

Ha, well, I was genuinely curious.

The only side projects I want to request are not feasible. And I do not know if your new toy is needed for them.

well, if the Titan campaign has taught me anything, the only way to know it’s not feasible is to toss it against the wall… if you know what I mean.

Okay, I was reading everything and thinking about it…
Same thought here:

It would be useful to know the polarity, but for me it would be enough to have a simple ā€œNā€ for North on it.
But then is really the question should be if this

But I’m sure he has already plenty of great ideas for it  …
And speaking of the sterilization process… After reading this I also don’t want to see our awesome Titans get lost somewhere on the way to Thailand :fearful:
I don’t know exactly what types of other low temperature sterilization might be possible, but I know through the work of my husband that most of them are also not cheap…
For me personally I agree here and would prefer the same for my Titan:

But what I must say also is, that I really like the way how we (the proud Titan backers) are getting involved into the entire work process! I’m really thankful for the opportunity that we all together can decide what might be the best.

And all of this makes me very curious about what might be the next crowdfunding project of DT…
 but most likely it will be another ā€œshut up and take my moneyā€ deal for me! :money_mouth_face:

You can just check it with your phone compass. Wherever the North on your app points at that is the South pole on your magnet. Of course it’s just a fun fact, not specifically about implants, but might as well. Edit: It might sounded patronising, didn’t mean to. I’d better go to sleep.

I suggested the stock market before… Jokes aside, me too.

I would definitely buy some DT stock.

I think I need to take a hiatus from the forum until the campaign ends. :grimacing: I keep telling myself I shouldn’t spend $500 on a magnet but magnet implants sounds so cool… I wonder how hard it would be to sell a Titan if I bought one and decided against keeping it?

So would I. High margins, super dedicated customer base, small but growing market, tech company (meaning there’s a chance to cash out before the next bubble bursts). What’s not to love eh?

If it was publicly traded, I’d want in on the action. On the other hand, if it was publicly traded, it’d start looking at quarterly figures, doing safe stuff on the cheap to reassure the investors, and it would probably become kinda meh very quickly. So perhaps it’s just as well we can’t buy DT stock.

is there actually any benefit to knowing the polarity if you only plan to get one?
i would think that the only use for that would be if you are setting up multiple to work together.

Depends on if you want to repel or attract other people, especially if a couple each get lip implants  :man_shrugging:
Or other body parts of course…

I kinda want another 4… But so much money… What are the chances of a second run at this point.

Yeah, but… with 8
