Well tragus and nipples both seem like fun ideas.
as long as you donāt get your ears stuck to your chestā¦
Yāall have dirty minds
I heard about an offer of ācouple magnetsā, installed in a way they would stick to each other when the couple was holding hands - cute idea, but a bit too āromanticā for me, Iām afraid^^
The whole laser-thingy sounds interesting, and I kinda like the idea of the serial number - though, still, it will be buried in my finger and I will most likely - hopefully! - never see it again. Guess the etching wouldnāt be visible on x-ray?
For sterilization - ah damn, I thought this would be possible directly at the manufacturerāsā¦ but shipping our little titans around the world, not knowing if they might get lostā¦ naaaah, no good idea.
Only thing that comes to my mind would be gamma-ray sterilization, dunno if it works on chips and magnets, too? No idea of how costy thatāll be. Still, Iād love to have a sterilized TItan, but if thatās just not possible, Iāll take the chlorhexidine as well and keep my fingers crossed that it works for a second time^^
Iām not a backer, so I wonāt answer the poll and dilute the results for the people who will actually be affected.
My vote would be DT āDā logo on the north side, and custom (2-3 letter) monogram on the south side. Obviously once implanted it makes no difference, but itād be a nice thing to know that its personally engraved for you.
I really like that idea but my initials being DC may give people the worn idea
Sure! Keep on giving me ideas!
Soon we might need to set up a thread about the process of implantation, including sterilisation, unless it gets done by DT. Plenty of time thoughā¦
Tbh I enjoy reading about these processes, so keep on mentioning them please.
Is there a dedicated WIKI about sterilisation processes in this forum?
When I checked it seemed there was plenty of info but fragmented to several topics.
well, if you knew you had north sticking up, then youād be aware of how you might interact with other magnets you encounter, including large potentially dangerous onesā¦ it would be better to repel those rather than stick to themā¦ and itās in your body so knowing more about a thing inside you is better than knowing less.
Dunnoā¦ weāre dealing with a little hiccup with the titanium supplier right now so iām just focused on this runā¦ and while fundraising has been relatively easy, dealing with all the backend stuff has been a challengeā¦ so still have no clear idea if / when another run will be in the cards.
In theory itās possible, but if the flex x-rays are any indication, not likely. The tiny film on top of an otherwise complete brick of solid metal will all probably just look like a big white blob on medical x-rayā¦ only forensic x-ray systems could be tuned and worked to maybe make out a film etched serial numberā¦ so donāt count on it
Yeah this is possibleā¦ itās expensive and has potential to damage chipsā¦ no idea on NdFeBā¦ but Iām looking into H2O2 domestic processes now. Itās a common process used to sterilize medical equipment that is more sensitive and cannot be autoclaved or EO gas processed.
Oh thatās interestingā¦ a monogram for backersā¦ hmmā¦
Backer submitted bitmap images?
Too be hinest would rather have it sooner than made all pretty.
I kinda agree, but, if you see it in an xray, I want something on there!
hah naaā¦ i donāt want to get too complicatedā¦ but maybe monogramsā¦ maybeā¦ weāll seeā¦ iām ordering some extra titanium stock now to practice on
hah yeahā¦ itād only take a couple days to sort outā¦ a day to test and a day to doā¦ iām not lasering 5000 magnets or anythingā¦ weāll be lucky to hit 50
Hereās another idea: if the laser can etch something really tiny, maybe write the name of the person. That way, hundreds of years from now, when an archeologist digs up the skeleton, theyāll find the tiny device with the name on it, and wonder āHmm, I wonder what kind pf life this John Doe had, and what prompted him to implant this device in his body.ā Youād get a tiny bit of immortality, or a chance to exist again for a short moment in the memory of someone in the future.
My partner and I had our fingertip magnets like that for a few months. It was neat. We could stick together when we held hands.
That is so frigginā cute, I love you Satur9
Welcome to the club of sentimentality!
No there isnāt,
I MY OPINION
It would have to come from one of us members rather than DT / Amal, as DT reccomends against self install.
So whatever it contained would not be their official stance.
As has happend in the past, Amal has stepped in to clarify and to prevent somebody doing something āwrongā and offering guidance rather than official advice.
If you keep a record of these to make a Wiki and would like/ need a hand to put it together, let me know
Atilla as well!
Yes please. I work on a publication about implants anyways, there must be plenty of info to research on the forum.
The only simple implant job I could have easily undertaken myself (in the foot, since I had both my hands free) I couldnāt even do: only my piercer managed to do it, because he knew something I didnāt about relaxing tight skin.
So yeah, just let a professional do the job. Itās almost guaranteed to be better, if you have the option of course.
O.K.
42 sold, 13 days left to go.
Iām gonna predict a final count of 58. Anybody else want in on this?
Sure, why not. I will go with 53.
