UHPPOTE Proximity RFID Card Reader 125KHz review

INTRODUCTION

This is a Wiegand reader that looks nice but doesn’t have a good range.

CAPABILITY

It can reed 125KHz cards and fobs. While it’s possible to get it read an xEM if placed on the side of the reader, it would be too awkward once the unit is mounted to a wall. This reader is too finicky with X Series chips to consider.

Wiegand Format:
The standard 26-bit Wiegand format is an open format; it is a widely-used industry standard. Almost all access control systems accept the standard 26-bit format which consists of 2 parity bits, 8-bit facility code, and 16-bit card number fields. The Wiegand interface is commonly used to connect a card swipe mechanism to the rest of an access control system.

Features:
The maximum reading distance is 6cm.
Waterproof, conforms to IP66.
It is useful for safety door system, easy to connect and use.
Ultra-low power consumption, the standby current is less than 50mA.
Support wiegand 26bits or wiegand 34bits output format.
Fast response speed, the door opening time is less than 0.3s.
This device uses high performance MCU to ensure stable performance, and low-power circuit makes the service life longer.
Widely used in factories, houses, residential quarters, offices, mechanical and electrical control equipment and so on.
The RFID card reader can’t work-alone and it needs to work with Wiegand protocol access controller, such as access control panel, fingerprint device or master controller.

Note:
Frequency: 125Khz
Card Type: EM-ID Card (Can’t support HID, Cobra, APCiK etc.)
Please notice that our wiegand reader can’t be compatible with some encrypted cards, such as HID, Indala, Cobra, APCiK, Paradox, Radio, Honeywell, etc.
Can’t work alone, need work with access control panel. (Please search ASIN: B00UX02JWE to get the access control panel)

SUMMARY

Looks nice, poor range, and it’s hard to use with X Series implants.

CONCLUSION

There are cheaper options that work better with implants, even if they don’t look as nice as this unit.
Even if you’re looking for a simple reader to be used with only cards and fobs, I’d look for a cheaper option as chances are that the shiny plastic front will get scratched pretty quickly from people slapping their credentials on this thing in order to get a read.
