What are you making ⚒️ / 3D printing 🖨

the bubbles seem to be more from internal air pockets or voids in chunks being tossed in to be melted… or small bubbles that get stuck to the side of the mold with no way to escape… like I said though… this one came out nearly flawless…
I’m just thinking a large funnel that stuff melts in before flowing into the mold… like a sprue almost could be beneficial

I’m sorry for the filament. Was that PLA?

Also, I noticed that the spools themselves melted and I think that those are ABS or something along those lines so that oven was way too hot.

yep… PLA in my vacuum oven to recover it… it became very brittle so I was drying it out… but… the oven is connected to my automation system and after 4 hours the heat was bumped waaaaay up automatically. Didn’t discover it until I went into the basement and smelled it.

Fucking annoyed :frowning:

At times I wonder if I should buy an Ender 5 Plus and do a core-xy conversion. A printer that can handle things like helmets would be nice.

On the other hand, I’m still tempted to buy an Ender 3 S1, a Copperhead heatbreak for it (if available), and convert it to linear rails.

But I don’t think that I should waste any more time or money with the Enders.

I’ve dried ASA on the bed of my E3, with a box covering the spool. It’s slow but it works rather well. And once again, I’m sorry for the spools. :sob:

made a Pabst Blue Ribbon Sourdough.

that’s one hell of a 3D print!

I actually 3d printed the lame for cutting the designs in the bread

I’ve done a ton of 3D printing, from ultimaker 1 to makerbot 5th gen and rep 2, ender 3 v1, 3v2, etc. and now bambu. Just get a bambu. Whichever one you pick is going to be a ton less frustrsting than upgrading an ender, and will print faster and give better results.

I’m more inclined towards building a Voron or a RatRig than ordering a Bambu. But I mentioned modifying those two printers because they are relatively easy to fit back in a box if you ever have to move. And I don’t know if I’ll end up moving to yet another country in the coming years.

Hopefully by then, airlines will still allow you to travel with luggage. With how things are going, I’m not even sure if they’ll allow you to travel with any clothes at all five years from now…

It’s not available but the G2 Copperhead appears to be similar in size. However, there are chinise bimetal heatbreaks for the Creality Sprite extruder.

at least shipping is fast.

Just got the cabinet and printer assembled. Well, mostly.

The spool holder ain’t gonna fit. Otherwise, it’s about the perfect size.

Still need to;
Mount spool / holder. (somewhere)
Actually insert the PLA into the extruder.
Get the bed leveled.
Figure out basic operation.
Test print from thingiverse.
Set up a PC to do modeling on.

Look into a bltouch. Makes bed leveling easy

Abandon the ender firmware and install octoprint or klipper on a raspberry pi. I prefer klipper but octoprint is really user friendly.

I have dry boxes above my enclosure and route the filament in through the top with Bowden tubes to keep moisture away from the filament. Works well.

I can see a CR-Touch in that picture so that part is covered. In fact, that’s an Ender 3 Neo which includes a few upgrades. Both Klipper and Marlin have bed tramming assistants that will mesure the bed over the screws and tell you how off things are.

Also, Octoprint is not a firmware but I recommend either compiling Marlin from scratch or using Klipper as the Creality firmware is not great. Klipper requires an additional computer of some sort, most people use Raspberry Pis.

Octoprint is a web interface for 3D Printers and while it’s often used with Marlin, it can also be used with Klipper but configuring things is a bit harder. Installing MainsailOS is probably the easiest way to get the Raspberry side of Klipper installed.

Great eye, I can barely make out that sensor

Why do I live in the middle of South America where shipping is a huge pain!?

I should probably move to Panama, Costa Rica or something…

TBH, I’d rather have an open source printer with known firmware than to add chinise software to my network (I’d create a vlan for it but still). This is significantly harder than ordering a Bambu but you get to customize the machine to your liking.

Just don’t move to where @Az_F is. Shipping there is such a pita.

I’ve considered a nearby island…

:grimacing:

Shipping to Paraguay is not fun either.
