The joke used to be rm -rf / but that won’t actually work on modern systems anymore.

I love multicolor prints

For anyone interested in small precise resin prints Phrozen have their usual Black Friday deals. I’ve got one of their original Transforms for large prints and an 8K mini for small prints and both work very well.

Edit: Wow, they’ve gone to 12K resolution since I was last there (though it’s in a more expensive printer of course)

My 1000w psu died after a power outage, I have a 500w replacement which is doing the job currently.
Is it worth jumping into the rabbit hole and try to fix it?
At first glance I don’t see any obvious issue other than dust

I don’t know much about PSUs, the best I could do is find a blown capacitor

Ive done a lot of PSU repairs, capa failures are usually in tandem with a few mosfets and diodes failures … you might have to take the mosfets off teh circuit to test them as there is usually diodes (should be some zeeners thrown in there too) in parallel.

Its not difficult, but it can be very time consuming and you can chasse your tail, missing 1 component and blowing a series at the next power up … Im not trying to discourage you, but know what you are possibly stepping into.

That’s all I needed to hear :joy: I’ll salvage the fan and the cables and I’m done with it. It has served me many years anyway

I’d check the fuse, MOVs, and input filter capacitors. But it could be a rabbit hole if the problem is not in those components.

Also, switching PSUs are very dangerous even after being unplugged for a while. So it’s best to replace the whole thing if you don’t know exactly what you are getting into.

And just because I’m a nerd, that’s a nice APFC coil.

You’re making me blush. I thought about the fuse I’ll take a look at it. But honestly I’ve already replaced it and rewired everything so even if it comes back to life it will stay in storage as a backup

That’s not what I meant!
