What are you making ⚒️ / 3D printing 🖨

Print beds with that finish are pretty common. Although that surface is for PLA only as far as I know and I destroyed one of those films by printing TPU on it.

I personally prefer textured PEI over the cool looking films as it’s more reliable and works with more materials. And I print a lot of ABS, so a PLA only bed doesn’t help me that much.

Mine is dual sided. It has both the texture and the pattern. I do both. i wait until one stops being sticky and i flip it. and then when that gets less sticky i wash it with dawn dish soap and start again.

Not intentional just a happy accident. I like dark greys and that was the only dark grey mat i could find when i was searching at the time.

I removed the black carbon fiber imitation film from mine after the TPU incident…

The steel plate now sits closer to the magnet so it sticks to it a little better now.

And I woke up to spaghetti, so I have to wash the build plate, and check the CR-Touch that’s failing occasionally.

I would get that notification on my bl touch when it was being hindered by a small fragment of pla. I ended up replacing the small plastic probe since they gave me an extra

Just cleaned the spaghetti mess and checked the connections for the CR-Touch. I hope it helps…

I’m using the Crapality version of the BL-Touch which uses a metal probe that’s not replaceable. So I checked the connections and made sure that the pin can move freely. I hope that nothing is trapped in there where I can’t see without removing the bed probe but I guess that I know what to do next if it fails again…

I just ran a SCREWS_TILT_CALCULATE and a BED_MESH_CALIBRATE successfully, but it was an intermittent problem to begin with so I’m hoping this fixes it.

The PEO is textured so stuff adhere like normal, but the plates that are rainbow/colored are super smooth to the touch, so they are a bit more difficult to get to wtick. Because the effects are micro texture on the plate, if you put glue or goo, you’ll loose most of the effect …

I like mines, but I don’t use them unless I really want a special effect (and try to stick with the PEO/gigger textures)

@Hamspiced I tried out your case with the probe I got from you at Defcon. I got it on there, but it was a super tight fit and I had to sand down the edges of the case a bit. I don’t really plan on taking it out though so it works for me :+1:

The probes have some small edges that may need filed. This is how they got panelized so you can always shave a bit off the probe safely.

I personally love the case as it makes it a bit easier to get easy reads on chips and cards now.

Printer calibration also affects how things fit. I personally use the Orca flow and pressure advance calibration, and then the Califlower.

Apparently there’s a newer version that uses a web based calculator insted of an excel spreadsheet here:

I saw this stupid advertisement for this weird ring thing and I thought man that could be 3D printed.. possibly with an embedded NFC transponder inside.

Sadly I do not have anywhere near the skill required to design such a thing for printing. If anyone is bored???
