Best NFC read range

I currently have the xSIID and I love it but it’s pretty tricky getting it to read when I don’t know exactly where the reader is when it comes to a device I’m not familiar with. I want to get another NFC implant (most likely a flex) but I want to get whatever has the best read range. I would assume the flexNT would have the best read range since it’s exclusively labeled as an NFC Chip. I wanted to check first since if it has the same read range as the apex or another one with more functionality it’d be an awesome upgrade.

Great implant, here’s my review

This would be a great choice if you wanted to share business cards easily or if you had a lock compatible with an NTAG216, of all my flex implants, it has the best read range.

The Apex has the MOST functionality
I also have one of these (APEXFlex), it would also be a great choice for you, especially if you wanted something for online security, and also similar functionality to the FlexNT.

typically yes, because the readers almost always have flat plane antennas (printed PCBs, wire wound antennas, etc.) and the x-series is a cylinder which couples in a very specific way with these types of antennas - you must present an x-series to lay perpendicular across the antenna trace path of the reader.

the flex is also a flat plane antenna, so coupling is more natural with a flat plane reader antenna, and is typically less “fiddly” when it comes to placement (see my comment on performance in reply to your other post).

Sorry about the thread necro. Also thanks for the very informative responses.

Edit: this post was very informative to the differences. The difference between x-series and flex products
