Custom 5mm flex installation needle now available

That’s kinda normal: ask a teamster why diesel engines don’t needs spark plugs and he’ll probably tell you he don’t know, he just drives the truck. They’re operators, not designers.

But anything to do with health requires trainees not just to understand how but also why. So you can probably ask a bone fide body artist pretty specific and technical questions about hygiene and get well-informed answers. Actually, if you don’t, it would be a pretty good warning sign.

I’m curious, would soaking the needle in chlorahexidine for 48hrs be clean enough for use? Or is autoclaving necessary? @amal

This - and it shows that you take stuff serious.
Neither my piercer nor my bodymod-artist or my tattooist were ever annoyed by me asking tons of questions. They are professionals, and they can explain every tiny part of their work, why they do everything the way they do it, why they use the specific tools they use - I even ask them about the tape or the foil they were using, about the contents of the tattoo colour, about their sterilization processes and possibly everything else that comes to mind. My bodmod-artist even had a lot of fun presenting every single tool to me on the day I had the appointment for the preliminary talk (!) about my first implant - guess that scares away every customer who’s not serious about that

I’m not totally sure if I understand that right, but from my experience, the sterile field is for placing all the instruments, gauze and whatever else is needed (by dropping it onto the sterile field directly from the freshly opened package, not touching it with the hands…) - if he just wraps your arm, where did he place all that stuff?

Yay - so I’m not the only one frequently confused by Pilgrim!

Yeah, if I was one of those delicate PC snowflakes, I’d say I keep telling him to lay off the gifs, but he just won’t do it, and how dare he not respect my wishes as a person with gif-language disability - because people who don’t understand gifs deserve respect too!

He was working from behind me, while I was in a chair, I’m referring to the arm rest, I guess I assumed that THAT should have used the sterile field… but now that you’re mentioning it maybe he used it to work from behind me

Dude was a pro, I make no complaints against him, I think the needle was in my skin… maybe 5 minutes after I was in the chair, he was just moving fast enough that I couldn’t form the questions to ask lol
Somehow I got lucky and he’s the guy who’s done a bunch, so I think he kicked into autopilot

I think I was in the chair maybe 15 minutes and out the door in 30, for 3 implants… and that’s with me trying to ask unnecessary questions lol

Sorry not meaning to cause a derail… I was just curious if the wrapping of the arm rest was a normal and sterile - enough sort of thing

Yeah, that happens frequently with pro’s  It’s not a bad sign, it just depends on what kind of guy he is - my piercer usually takes a lot of time with me, we chat a bit about whatever happened since my last visit, about new piercing-plans for me or whatever, and I can seriously sit there for almost an hour, if he’s got the time. In the same amount of time, my bodmod-artist would have made four piercings, I guess… (but he takes his time for bodymods, too - never felt rushed or anything there  )

The armrest is usually just wrapped in plastic (or desinfected and wrapped in plastic afterwards), and that’s totally fine. I just get nervous when I see people a) taking stuff out of sterile pouches, touching them directly or b) putting (former) sterile stuff on non-sterile surfaces or c) not changing the gloves directly before modding me (or, like a cosmetician I visit, wearing gloves and frequently touching the smartphone with them… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: )

Not only do I confuse people, I obviously also offend people.

This video is on a private feed, and the only place it is shared is on this forum.

Somebody flagged it between when I posted it above and now
So whoever you are…

For you must have been shocked, but

Can’t fight PC my friend. It’ll creep everywhere.

Hell… all / most of us here implant strange stuff into our bodies… so we all might know what happens there, don’t we?
Why does someone flag an informative video like that? This is just plain stupid. (set aside I just don’t get why something like that should be age restricted at all…)

So, honestly - I’m often confused by you, but surely never ever offended!

No popular opinion - but censorship is not PC, nor should it disguise as such… (though yes, it often does)

I’ve seen people posting installs and body mods on pornhub or other over 18 websites for that reason

What search engine are you using?
This is what I get when I search “bullshit .gif”

Interesting read.

And now the inevitable question - one that I’ve been wondering for a long time in fact: if hollow beveled needles are so tricky to control, why use them? Why not use a solid, centerpoint needle?

I get the rationale for injectors (something must travel down the tube) but I’ve never understood why hollow needles where used for piercings and to carve out pockets.

Fine you try penetration.gif and lemme know how that works lol

…I might have gotten caught off guard with that search

I would not have apologized.
You would think that due to the nature of this forum that “cancel culture” would not exist here.

I’m not a piercer or a machinist, but my understanding is that cutting and grinding down a hollow tube into a needle is cheap, and results in a sharper implement for the money than a centerpoint needle. They’re supposed to be disposable, so sharp tool+low cost is the goal. A solid centerpoint needle may well be easier to handle, but you have to source them and sharpen them if you want to reuse.

Yeah, a 4g metal spike. That seems to be a whole new level for me.

I poke people with needles almost daily at work too. The thought of a spike being used just doesn’t seem right, even though there is nothing wrong with it. It is also called a taper I think.

There are needles that have inserts to make them solid, or to give stiffness to the needle. IMG-39786

Pull out the angle grinder, good as new.

I don’t see what the problem would be. I mean ultimately, that’s what dermal lifters are, in much, much bigger and much blunter. They tear through the connective tissue and push stuff out of the way. It seems more logical than coring stuff out with a hollow tube and a lopsided blade.
