makes sense, i definitely think he will appreciate it as it will make both your likes easier.
And i didnt know they made tightening ring ones, i work mostly with artery forceps and suture needle holders so they have teeth that latch on to one another for clasping.
If you ask making it clear youāre genuinely curious, nobody should mind. Only when you catch someone doing something they shouldnāt be doing do they go on the defensive. Thatās my experience.
Speaking of dick, hereās a funny story my piercer told me the other day: some guy came in and asked for a Prince Albert. So he obliged, sat the guy down and started working on his joystick. Then in the middle of the procedure, the guy started complaining about piercers, how theyāre rude and unprofessional, how they really should get more training on hygiene yada yada. My piercer told me āSo there I was, listening to that guy insulting me while I had his fucking dick in my hand and a sharp tool in the other. Some people are afraid of nothing!ā
Yea, and for my personal safety it should also be fine askingā¦
Just donāt usually frequent body shops, so out of my element so felt less comfortable asking about everything by the numbers like I normally would
I remember some time I was in the ER, some broken boneā¦(itās sad I canāt remember which time lol)
And while Iām dealing with broken bones, and their trying to X-ray me, Iām asking the X-ray tech allll the technical questions,
What radioactive core does the machine use?
I know how the film works, but your using some kind of digital sensor instead of physical film⦠howās that work?, is the X-ray room shielded? What shielding?
Alll the nerdy questions
Pretty disappointed when all the the answers are, āI just work here I donāt knowā
I canāt bring myself to interrogate the body mod artist quite the same way⦠nor sure why
Thatās kinda normal: ask a teamster why diesel engines donāt needs spark plugs and heāll probably tell you he donāt know, he just drives the truck. Theyāre operators, not designers.
But anything to do with health requires trainees not just to understand how but also why. So you can probably ask a bone fide body artist pretty specific and technical questions about hygiene and get well-informed answers. Actually, if you donāt, it would be a pretty good warning sign.
This - and it shows that you take stuff serious.
Neither my piercer nor my bodymod-artist or my tattooist were ever annoyed by me asking tons of questions. They are professionals, and they can explain every tiny part of their work, why they do everything the way they do it, why they use the specific tools they use - I even ask them about the tape or the foil they were using, about the contents of the tattoo colour, about their sterilization processes and possibly everything else that comes to mind. My bodmod-artist even had a lot of fun presenting every single tool to me on the day I had the appointment for the preliminary talk (!) about my first implant - guess that scares away every customer whoās not serious about that
Iām not totally sure if I understand that right, but from my experience, the sterile field is for placing all the instruments, gauze and whatever else is needed (by dropping it onto the sterile field directly from the freshly opened package, not touching it with the handsā¦) - if he just wraps your arm, where did he place all that stuff?
Yay - so Iām not the only one frequently confused by Pilgrim!
Yeah, if I was one of those delicate PC snowflakes, Iād say I keep telling him to lay off the gifs, but he just wonāt do it, and how dare he not respect my wishes as a person with gif-language disability - because people who donāt understand gifs deserve respect too!
He was working from behind me, while I was in a chair, Iām referring to the arm rest, I guess I assumed that THAT should have used the sterile field⦠but now that youāre mentioning it maybe he used it to work from behind me
Dude was a pro, I make no complaints against him, I think the needle was in my skin⦠maybe 5 minutes after I was in the chair, he was just moving fast enough that I couldnāt form the questions to ask lol
Somehow I got lucky and heās the guy whoās done a bunch, so I think he kicked into autopilot
I think I was in the chair maybe 15 minutes and out the door in 30, for 3 implants⦠and thatās with me trying to ask unnecessary questions lol
Sorry not meaning to cause a derail⦠I was just curious if the wrapping of the arm rest was a normal and sterile - enough sort of thing
Yeah, that happens frequently with proās Itās not a bad sign, it just depends on what kind of guy he is - my piercer usually takes a lot of time with me, we chat a bit about whatever happened since my last visit, about new piercing-plans for me or whatever, and I can seriously sit there for almost an hour, if heās got the time. In the same amount of time, my bodmod-artist would have made four piercings, I guess⦠(but he takes his time for bodymods, too - never felt rushed or anything there )
The armrest is usually just wrapped in plastic (or desinfected and wrapped in plastic afterwards), and thatās totally fine. I just get nervous when I see people a) taking stuff out of sterile pouches, touching them directly or b) putting (former) sterile stuff on non-sterile surfaces or c) not changing the gloves directly before modding me (or, like a cosmetician I visit, wearing gloves and frequently touching the smartphone with them⦠)
Hell⦠all / most of us here implant strange stuff into our bodies⦠so we all might know what happens there, donāt we?
Why does someone flag an informative video like that? This is just plain stupid. (set aside I just donāt get why something like that should be age restricted at allā¦)
So, honestly - Iām often confused by you, but surely never ever offended!
No popular opinion - but censorship is not PC, nor should it disguise as such⦠(though yes, it often does)
And now the inevitable question - one that Iāve been wondering for a long time in fact: if hollow beveled needles are so tricky to control, why use them? Why not use a solid, centerpoint needle?
I get the rationale for injectors (something must travel down the tube) but Iāve never understood why hollow needles where used for piercings and to carve out pockets.
