So yeah after reviewing, it is clear to me that the rope and metal hook which trapped her hand basically pulled on her skin to the point that it must have pulled the implant up overtop of her metacarpal bone where it was crushed. There is no way the chip could have been crushed like that if it had stayed between her metacarpal bones. This is the difference between direct perpendicularly applied blunt force trauma and something that shears the skin sideways enough to pull the chip up over the bone.
Um well, nothing is unbreakable especially with excessive amont of force applied. Based on what i can see and suspect the implant got pressed against the metacarpal bone(s), which caused the catastrophic failure of the glass capsule. Doing the math, average grown up animal weight is around 500kg, this means around 125kg per hoof. I am more surprised that the metacarpal bones survivded.
From what I gathered from our message exchange (which is on Instragram on the Fun Bundle post), the horse was tied up and stepped away such that her hand was pinched between a metal piece on the lead line and a metal fence post.
Well hard to feel any sympathy when her attitude is that it should be covered by warranty. Looks like she needs to learn to take some accountability in her life.
That’s not what it was at all… She pointed out she didn’t think it qualifies for warranty but we offered to replace it. Feel free to read the full exchange on Instagram.
Your comment is coming off as “I know their hand got crushed by a horse strongly enough to destroy the implant but I don’t feel bad about their injury because they asked for a replacement”. I think that’s a pretty pessimistic take of the situation.
That was the old warranty policy, but it got updated to prevent abuse. And from what I’ve seen, DT is still providing replacements for cases like this because Amal is a great person even if it’s no longer in the warranty policy.
I just feel like it’s taking the piss treating DT as if it was some sort of multimillion corporation that would do this just for the sake of customer service. Go ahead, try and take advantage of someone who’s doing amazing stuff at great cost. Be a responsible adult. Don’t act entitled or cheap. No doubt the horse should have third party insurance and the right thing would be to claim financial damage from the insurers. It’s like expecting your car to be replaced by the manufacturer just because someone else crashed into it.
Totally. She posted that a day after we offered to replace it already. She even made sure to clarify in our exchange that the failure was not due to a defect so she didn’t think it was covered. : )
They weren’t making any demands or being rude. They’re not taking advantage of DT by asking. I feel like this is a prime example of an ask vs guess culture clash.
Also you’re allowed to empathize with someone while disagreeing with them or their actions.
