I’m a bit lost in the sea of different numbing agents and which ones are best for different areas of the body and different types of numbing. Can someone please explain which ones are most effective for implants and somewhere reputable to find it? Is it ok to ask my doctor for a prescription for some or is that like a dumb idea?
I’m in Wisconsin, USA
Emla patches are pretty good topical anesthesia if you can get them. The challenge with them is the function more like a bandage than anything else, only it requires that the bandage perimeter stay firmly adhered to your skin. If the perimeter is broken and the patches allowed to dry out, it won’t work. These also require up to 2 hours for full effectiveness.
If you go for a patch like this, the largest size available. Once you place it on your skin, I suggest you wrap it with a tensor bandage or something similar so that firm pressure is applied to the entire patch such that the perimeter won’t become detached from your skin and allow the patch to dry out.
Oh I forgot to say, you mentioned injectable numbing agents but the emla patch is going to be much more accessible and you can apply it yourself. Injectable numbing agents are really only available (legally speaking) to medical professionals, and you won’t really be able to self-administer them prior to installation of your implant.
If you’re going for something like an x-series injectable implant, injecting numbing agents is just about as painful as injecting the implant itself. If you’re going for something more serious, talk to your professional installer about options they may have access to.
I was looking at the Emla patches on the shop, but you’re out of stock on everything. I think that would be what I’m looking for, but also wanted to look at other options for getting other implants like the APEX that require cutting, which is why I asked about the injectable.
As for installers, I’m trying to talk to places in my area to get the knowledge out there about this kind of stuff, and now that I have two implants myself, I can actually show them off and people can see the benefits of it and why they’d want to be listed as an installer. I got these first two from this guy https://www.instagram.com/bodymodsbyshawnohare but when Equip saw the angle of entry and installation on one of them (Next V2) he said the guy needs more practice and education.
I’m just trying to learn as much as possible, and that means getting more implants so I can help educate people properly.
If you use the needle which comes with the Apex, just using ice on the area to numb it prior to injection was what worked for me. That and 2 or 3 beers. It feels like a bee sting but is over very quickly.
Yep Apex Flex needle install isn’t that bad. Apex Mega though.. yeah might need something for that ![]()
I’ve been chatting with deeidy on discord the last month or so. He’s a good guy. Talking him into the apex conversion and a magnet.
He just got stabbed two weeks ago so the knobs @amal is turning is really hitting him.
He’s done great learning access control and using his pm3. As well as some of the other more advanced things a proxmark can do.
I have a shopping list of items I want. Another Next V2, another xMagic, an Apex conversion kit, the dUG4T, a Vivokey Apex flex, And I don’t even know what else. Between DT, Equip, and Hamspiced, I’m like completely obsessed with this stuff now. Like I mentioned earlier, I want to find some shops in my area that will do installations. I’m already working with two shops, just need to get the official thumbs up from them. I’ll most likely end up being the guinea pig, but hey, FOR SCIENCE!
did you use this?
Yes I brought all of the paperwork with me when I met with them
I just use a topical lidocaine gel and/or ice (like was mentioned) and it works great. I don’t even use anything for x series. Maybe the 3mm x series would need some lidocaine if it’s your first install or two.
xBT is cool if you got a flipper. Also maybe some sensing or lifting magnets would be fun options too.
Forgot about magnets. I definitely want an xG3. The xBT looks cool, but I don’t know if I want one under my armpit.
I have one under each. Don’t even know it’s there. It’s not the armpit really, it’s more the bicep or torso.
I have a Titan(I forgot which new one is equivalent) and xG3v2. One for sensing and one for lifting.
Mine’s in the armpit, really well placed.
easy to read with a flipper through a tshirt, I’m not sure about the accuracy, but it SHOULD be pretty consistent.
If I want accurate, I just need to work out the offset…if any.
I’ve had this post in the back of my mind for a while:
That’s a pretty useful place for a magnet.
