Hello!
I recently purchased an xG3 and have been pondering implant locations.
I’m not quite comfortable with a finger implant, and by asking around, I have heard that the location ‘-p0’ is a good secondary option for sensing.
‘- (negative) p0’, meaning the normal p0 position but on the palm side of the hand.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this position, and could answer a few questions:
I know some have done this with the Titan, but what about the xG3? It seems a little more fragile due to the glass coating and rod-shape. How safe would this semi-palm location be?
If I were to get it installed this way, what angle should it go in? Parallel or perpendicular to the pointer finger? While I do not have access to a genuine body modification artist, one of my family members is a very experienced Surgeon and has done my other implant, so as long as she is given some guidance on angle, I’m confident she can do it.
Of course I would handle it carefully during healing, but after healing, could I still do the same things with my hand? Could I lift heavy objects? Could I bench press?
I’m sorry if these questions are pretty specific, I don’t know if anyone can actually answer them. I do want to find the best location for it, though.
palm side is good for padding, good absorption in the area.
It being an xg3 though i wouldn’t recommend it, size, glass, higher potential of impact if you put your hands out to stop a fall or crush if pressing something heavy, depending on where exactly in -P0 it ends up.
Is it an xg3v1 or v2? If it’s a v2 (since the v1 is no longer sold) don’t bother putting it there anyway, -P0 is best for sensing because of nerves and the xg3v2 is primarily a lifting magnet with less sensing.
I have personally put a lot of implants in myself in some very very silly positions and would not go for palm-side P0 for a glass implant, my titans are in -P0 on both hands.
Depending on how big your hands are and how much real estate you have, the side of the middle finger, on the bottom knuckle, may serve you well, would be decent for sensing and would be coushened between the fingers.
I have an old xg3 v1 in -p0, it was my first implant a few years ago. I’ve had no issues with it but it did get installed entirely too deep. Sensing and lifting wise it’s kind of dulled out, although that first two years or so was really cool, but is in such a position that I would be wary of taking it out. I’d definitely go for a titanium based implant in that position, but closer to the webbing as opposed to where mine is sitting which is effectively in the middle of my palm.
For an xg3 v2 I’d really suggest maybe somewhere on the forearm or p4/5. I have a v2 in my knifes edge that has not inconsiderable sensing sensations, ymmv though!!
Thanks for taking the time to write this up, it certainly answers most of my questions.
I get what you are saying, and, yeah, that position probably is not the best choice for me.
It is the v2 xG3, does it really have very little sensing? Do you think they may redesign the v1 and sell it again? I was wanting something with some sensing, but if not, I’m sure I will still get my use. Are there any Titan alternatives out there, seeing as it is no longer sold?
And for my current xG3, I have small hands so knuckle area like you mentioned might not work for me. Would you recommend the knifes edge? What about the opposite side of your hand, the knifes edge on the thumb side (p11?)? Or is the classic p0 the way to go?
There might be just a little more info available in the DT Club…
I believe they also still plan to bring the Titan or a comparable offering back at some point, and @Az_F over at Abyss Walker recently released some biomagnets in partnership with some other biohackers:
