Post install tips for a noob?

Any post op tips for a noob with a 15 minute old xNT and a bottle of 5% topical lidocaine ive just realized is meant for hemorrhoids? I was thinking witch hazel might help with the inflammation mentioned by most, but if theres anything else thats particularly helpful for healing and comfort id love to hear it!

Keep it clean, dry, and be gentle with it for the first two weeks.

Is that a herb or something?

I’d leave it alone TBH, especially while the wound closes which should take a few days or so. The inflammation will go down on it’s own within a few weeks, but it can potentially make the chip impossible to read during this period so don’t worry. The chip will become readable within two weeks or so.

Witch hazel is a flower/bark, but they sell the distilled version and its good for disinfection and its a topical anti-inflammatory

I’d recommend to wait until the wound heals before applying anything.

Oh yeah for sure, thats what i meant. Also, how do you reccomend keeping it dry? Most of the band aids ive got arent very good at keeping out water

If you can’t get waterproof bandages, a rubber/nitrile glove is helpful for bathing, washing dishes, etc

Based on conversations with my very heavily medically trained installer, you should be fine to do things like short showers or gently washing your hands after 24h. But avoid soaking your hands for example doing dishes or taking a bath.

By that time the hole has usually closed up, but you want to avoid dirty water or letting it loosen up with soaking.

This is spot on, though I personally like to add some tape or a hair tie into the mix for a better seal

Currently it seems as though the hole is pretty much closed, but there isnt any scabbing yet, and theres still a very tiny spot of exposed flesh. Im worried the band aid is actually holding the moisture to it and that could potentially cause problems, should I start leaving the band aid off?

This is by no means advice, this is what I’ve tended to do:

Sleep with bandage on first couple of nights. New bandage for work.

Gently wash hands when I get home.

Bandage off for a few hours when I’m chilling at home. Cover it when cooking

Oh also, does anyone have the specifics on blocking out the locking functionality with rawnfc?

I’ll update the command library

actually you could use the NExT v2 factory command;

So far everything is going really well, but I’m not getting any of the redness, inflammation, or bruising that people have been mentioning, and I can already read and write to the card despite having installed it on Sunday. Sorry if this is a stupid question but it’s hard to tell what’s normal and whats not since I’m relatively new to this field

Everybody is different, and every body is different.
There is no normal

I too have never had a problem getting a read off any implant at any time, I just never mention it, because that would be a mean thing thing to say…

Great now we have both said it…

Anyway, good for you and I wish you continued successful read and writes.

Your installer obviously did a good job, causing minimal trauma during install

I actually wound up self installing, so im definitely glad to hear that I did well!

1 week update:

Everything is going well, however it would seem the initial hole from installation is having a little trouble closing up all the way, and theres still a little bit of a flap, likely caused by my uninformed decision to go bevel up on the Install. Other than that ive been getting successful reads and writes, however the app I use for writing to it claims the tag can still be made write only, and that the tag is already password protected, but when I wrote to it the first time it didnt prompt for a password so im not sure of the validity of this claim

…:hamster_emoji_gif:

The 4 ā€œbestā€ apps in my opinion are

Chip Identification /Read = TagInfo
Writing = TagWriter
Writing = NFC Tools (Pro Also)
Read / Write = BioCom

For Mifare Classic gen2 = MCT (Pro Also)

At least you know for your next one, there is a modified install option, ALWAYS bevel down so you don’t get the skin flap, but then you can rotate 180⁰ once you have made the initial penetration.

This is true, and it is one of 2 passwords, but you do not need this, the password is there to protect you from yourself.
It doesn’t work in the manner you are used to.
Your xNT is willing to talk to anybody that asks.

More info can be found in the data sheet,
I’m finding it difficult to deliberately not provide you with all the information, that is purely because you really don’t need to know anything about it. But I am however giving you breadcrumbs and hints to follow if you want to deep dive into it.

Here is one more

My recommendation is just to forget about the password and use it as you normally would do.

If you fuck something up, which is unlikely
with a known password, we can help you BUT If you change the password, you’ll have the same functionality. HOWEVER if you forget your password, that’s when things get dngrous and next thing you know, you’re pretty much fucked.
