If you want something to reliably bring income, at the moment the hotshot field is āDevopsā, as in āCloud Based Platform Engineeringā.
Itās the tech role in highest demand and, consequently, which pays better (at least in todayās UK)
Itās less glamorous than it sounds. Has a lot of āsetting up config files, clicking a button and seeing what happensā, but it does also keeps quite close to heart to cyber security best practicesā¦
And if you lose your wallet in a big city at the moment, odds are youāll get it mailed to you together with your contract for a devops role!
Seriously, recruiters are desperate!
Cyber security on the other hand has been declining in demand. Mostly because a lot of what itās requested has been covered by Devops (not best way to do it, but who am I to judge)ā¦ or because there havenāt been any big cybersec scandals lately.
On the other hand, a comprehensive Cyber security course should set you up to work in Devops as well.
Pentesting is one of those āwho you knowā fields, unfortunately. Unless you go for bounty hunting.
In which case you work for free until you score a bountyā¦ and then you pray that the company will honour that and pay you! (Lately quite a few bounties have been ignored by the companies setting them. Think there was a recent lowkey scandal with an android bountyā¦ havenāt kept much up to date there)
I think one of the biggest issues with Cyber security is that at the same time itās hard to showcase what you know to a recruiter/HR person while at the same time carrying a heavy load of responsibility.
So similar to working on C++, it falls into the trap of āEntry level Role: Requirement: 15+ years of experience in this tech that came out yesterdayā (hence why it tends to be a āwho you knowā kinda job)
Now, despite my somewhat dark toneā¦
It is an intriguing field.
You would learn a lot of very handy stuff and the skills covered by a good cyber security course should be transferable into a bunch of other similar fields.
Thanks. Great advice. I will certainly take it on board and do some more research. I donāt really care what I end up doing, so long as it keeps me in beer and wine!
I agree. I get about 5 offers a week for the moment, as the market is apparently looking for a lot of Azure experts they donāt find, at least in Belgium.
I agree with DevOps being highly in demand, and it also included some part or a lot of security, hence the DevSecOps name being thrown around too.
We build a lot of stuff from code (IaC) and try to include security aspects in everything we deploy, either best practices or company requirements. Lately weāve been asked to consider more green aspects too, like deploying in low carbon score regions for instance.
Just wanted to pop in and say yes, Iām alive, and I really hope everyone is doing well I pop in occasionally to browse new posts, but Iāve been having some health issues (physical and mental), and been a bit busy, so havenāt been in a productive mood for hobbiesā¦
I know these were only briefly mentioned in the forum, But if my recollection is correct they worked well with an implant, but we havenāt seen a review on them, and they are not in the Matrix.
She is a pricey bitch thoughā¦
But, if anybodyās in the market for one and this looks like something that will suit your purpose donāt forget to write a review #reviews and iāll add it to the Matrix
Wait I just realized Iām not DT club anymore what happened? Does it just stop like that without notice? Iāll check my payment method but this is weird, I wonder how long ot has been
I kinda want to have microscopic artwork inside of meā¦ But itās not like I can tell if there are any RFID chips with this sort of thing on the die.
Might need to decap a card or two and get a microscope. :robot_gundam:
Love seeing that lady casually pulling out a large fuck-off revolver from her purse in that video. Thanks for the laugh.
Might have to look into it. Been looking for a nice clock for my nightstand and finding a better way to secure my firearm nearby. The safe in my closet is nice, but no lights to illuminate the keypad is kinda rough, and just having it out in the open is not ok even in my bedroom.
To derail the derailment thread, Iāve been tempted to āupgradeā to Windows 11 thanks to some software I want to use on the Windows Store blocking access to Windows 10. Anybody have any good/bad things to say about it? Iāve been testing it out on my laptop before updating my desktop, so I found out the hard way that it does not support the taskbar on top of the screen.
