Took apart granny’s old laptop to scrap it for ddr4 and an ssd… I beg to differ. The fan literally would not move.

On a side note, I have some DDR4 and some SSDs laying around. If shipping wasn’t such a pain around here, I’d offer a hand…

I appreciate the (hypithetical?) offer, but I am good! I’ve got a lil extra of everything here..

Here’s some photos in return!

Edit: And before anyone asks, nobody in that house inhales any substances. And no, I don’t know what this is..

I’ve friends in the pawn shop business. Long story short, Playstations and XBoxes have a distinct… aroma, when full of cockroaches (both alive and dead) and all their excrement. This is why I’m very standoffish with used electronics, until I know they’re clean and not going to spew filth when handled.

Please excuse me, I’m gonna go dry heave for a bit.

I keep my stuff incredibly clean. And yes, I’ve been mocked for the fact that I never have food or drinks on my desk and don’t allow anyone to place drinks anywhere near my keyboard.

I thought that the people who leave coffee stains on their laptop screens were gross enough… Or at least I hope that those brown marks on other people’s computers are coffee and not something worse.

Same…

I bet I know

Granny cooks in willing to bet. If she’s a good cook she’s using olive oil. It has a low smoke point. I’m willing to bet it’s a mixture of oil and dust.

Not often anymore, but when she does she greases her pans with olive oil.. Or butter depending..

But, O Athenians! even the best workmen appeared to me to have fallen into the same error as the poets; for each, because he excelled in the practice of his art, thought that he was very wise in other most important matters, and this mistake of theirs obscured the wisdom that they really possessed.

It boggles the mind when actors are asked for their opinions on economics or politics as if they are wise in these subjects just because they’re great at lying about being someone else.

It’s kinda died down due to backwash from politics, but just a couple of years ago, you couldn’t have an issue show up in the news about xxxxx, but the next news story would be "Elon Musk has visionary plan to solve xxxxx! "

Really got under my skin for this very reason.

this reminds me of the time I lent one of my nice UPSs to my brother who then got a roach infestation. He failed to properly handle the roach problem and one day called me saying the UPS is beeping with ā€œavr relay weldā€ showing on the screen.

I got the UPS working again but it was a two day process of taking the bagged UPS, fogging the inside of the bag with bengal roach spray for a few hours. then painstakingly disassembling the UPS to it’s various component parts and washing them thoroughly with hot water, alcohol, then distilled.

The ā€œAVR relay weldā€ message was because a roach fried itself on the opposite side of the PCB from the relay. Roaches are gross man.

I would’ve let them keep the UPS after that…

It was fixable and a lesson on never letting him borrow anything ever again.
