Same here, but I do have a few ā€œloaner toolsā€ that are already fucked …

I did cut a bolt with the wire cutter … once … as a kid … I’m surprised I made it passed ā€œthe lessonā€

Have you cut live romex yet?
Oohhhh! Sparkly life lesson.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that being famous automatically gets people to consider them as authority figures, or the fact that most people, including thos actors, don’t understand economics…

With a strong understanding of morality and economics having a solid political stance is easy. But you’ll probably struggle to figure out for who to vote at that point as all the candidates will sound crazy…

The desire to master or at least understand multiple fields is certainly missing on a lot of people. :emoji_sob:

Can someone look up the price of a 32gb kit of DDR5 from any reasonably trustworthy brand for me?

(Not actually)

I think I might be seeing things..

500 USD…

I’ve been looking for a 128gb kit for my laptop…

Out of curiosity, what use would you have for 128gb of memory, and in a laptop at that?

My desktop is running 48gb, and my laptop 24gb. My main server is running 32.

Perhaps this laptop serves as your primary workstation?

Yeap, and I have a tendency to run way too many virtual machines…

I upgraded my computer not that long ago, but going from DDR4 to DDR5 meant a downgrade to 32gb of RAM… Although I’m still keeping the old computer around.

Wasn’t expecting reptiles to get chipped, but I guess that makes sense. Although that cyborg is technically not fluffy… Although it is indeed cute. :emoji_thinking:

I found the length measurement confusing at first, until I realized that you got a pet snake.

For what it’s worth, I have 48gb for that exact reason. I can run a win11 VM and a linux VM and still have 20gb left over for my host OS. It is quite a nice capability to have.

As you should. Extras are wonderful.

For the record, Sherman does not have any microchips… To my knowledge… But the previous owner had him since he was a wee worm and they did not mention any so I find it unlikely. Once he is comfy I’ll definitely feel the usual spots for lumps.

I suppose I did break both rules.. Hmm.. @Pilgrimsmaster can move my post if he believes that this is too large of a violation. My apologies, though for the record he’s such a cute little guy that I don’t feel bad about it.

That’s what I have in the old laptop, and that’s because I couldn’t go up to 64gb.

Yeap, especially if you have Linux on the extra computer with a bunch of backup and recovery oriented tools installed… Although I like to have backups either way.

I’m thinking AI server or for playing those games that use invasive anti-cheat rootkits. It has a 3080 after all…

Anyways, a huge SSD is another priority for me right now. Computers get expensive quickly…

He is indeed cute!

I think ā€œfur babyā€ is a generic term for a pet, which also covers danger noodles like Sherman.

Good luck! I’ve lost hundreds on failed Kickstarters. First on a 3D printer that never made it to production, then on some mesh radios that might have been a scam from the beginning. I’ve sworn off Kickstarter after that…
