The antišŸš«-derailmentšŸšƒ & threadšŸ§µ hijackingšŸ”« threadšŸ§µ ā‰

Iā€™m not surprised our friend conflates extracting money from internet idiots and earning it: when you see the kind of dough successful Youtubers, Tiktokers and other pointless ā€œinfluencersā€ are making, itā€™s hard not to mistake it for a real job

except that they can be a real job.

sadly.

thoughā€¦ my parents both told me ā€œthis computer thing is a fad, you need to be ready to get a real jobā€ when I was a wee lad back in the 1980s.

My criterion is whether something of value was produced that also contributes to advancing the human condition.

Computers clearly bring something to the table on both fronts.

However, footballers, Jackass-like TV programs and people who film their latest bowel movements on Youtube do not: they have value in the sense that whoever watches them enjoys them, but theyā€™re a waste of resources when the money and energy could be spent on more worthwhile pursuits.

Do get me wrong I wasnā€™t saying we should ban Hector it was a question on can we say to him that look this is annoying and spam etc but it seems he has realised now

He realized it, apologized, and then spammed a new thread an hour after

Then I he realized a second time after I called him outā€¦ (fwiw THATS worth lol)

Weā€™ll see I guess

I meant regularly active users, which if were being honest is probably under 100

Not that thatā€™s a bad thing, honestly I like seeing various avatars repeated often you get a sense of an actual community, not just a sea of random people you only ever exchange you bit of data with

Kid was just acting like itā€™s YouTube and heā€™s talking to a vast population, trying to ā€œdrum upā€ pressure for what he impatiently wants

Being a serious YouTuber or ā€œinfluencerā€ its not a simple task. Creating a story, a self branding image, even if its just poking your nose and eating your buggers, it takes money to get the gear for lighting, recording, editing, learning to use softwares and platforms, learning to properly tag, and structure your content and keep it consistent for pretty long time until the algorithm finally picks you up if it ever does. Be careful to not offend and follow guidelines or you would get burned and banned pretty quick. They do have value if they know how to market themselves correctly, they as influencers have the ability to gather a large amount of consumers by gaining their trust and admiration. They can take an important roll on how their followers spend their money or what products they select. Self producing, self promoting, creating a flow of content and engaging with the community takes a special skill that not just any average joe has been able to pull out.

Youthā€™s dreams canā€™t be completely ignored, many successful people started with a group of ā€œney sayersā€. He did had the micro-guts to put his own name on the account, created (or found) a little logo with his initials, and even with his ā€œun-educatedā€ manners reached to this group to pursue his goal.

Yeah, 13 year old doesnā€™t know much about ā€œreal lifeā€ or probably how ā€œhardā€™ is for an adult to get money when we have to deal with all kinds of responsibilities, but is not like he can just go out and start applying for jobs so the next thing is to do what other kids are doing to get coins.

The most important thing here, is donā€™t do anything illegal, or that could put his health in danger. And as a minor, of course have his parents backing him up.

Playing his cards right, he could just become the youngest cyborg in the world and could gain a lot of geek reputation as a biohacker. He still has a lot of time to grow and learn and he will probably will be able to see stuff that some of us will not make it to see happen. Or he can be a brat, ask his friend to commit a felony by doing this procedure on a park without his parents consent and get his hand infected and amputated for not following adults advices.

Amal always says, THIS SITE MIGHT BE CALLED DANGEROUS THINGS, BUT REMEMBER SAFETY FIRST.

Well apparently he already unlearned his lesson in yet another thread

Now I can post this without guilt for context of his social influence

I agree with what your saying for the most part but could you imagine the backlash if something went wrong. This kid ends up loosing his hand due to an unchecked infection and were all yo blame.

His actions in my eye got to prove not only is he too immature to proceed with this but he dosent actually understand what heā€™s doing.

Bingoā€¦

Honestly, if he gets the hammerā€¦ might put a bad taste in his mouth. Which usually Iā€™m not one for gate keepingā€¦ but if it keeps the kid safe from himself for a while might be for the best

A kid looses his hand and we would be to blame? How about his parents?

Here, absolutely no one is encouraging this kid to self install or to proceed without a professional that would actually agree to perform such procedure on a minor, and 100% with his parents consent.

About if I agree that someone that young should have an implantā€¦ I donā€™t know, we got babies weewees mutilated in name of ā€œreligionā€ or little girls ears also pierced to hang some earrings in the name of ā€œfashionā€
A parent just got a 3 year old a ā€œ666ā€ tattoo because ā€œreligionā€œ in Florida.

There is all kinds of families, specially in America. All we can do is encourage safety and offer some guidance.

If you ask me, I think for him a blinky ndef implant might be more fun to play with.

In all of those cases mentioned the parents should be done for child abuse. Tattoos, piercings, circumcision (where not medically nessicary) and fgm to name but a few should all result in prison time for the parents.

As for how we would all be responsible, we wouldnā€™t actually be responsible but you know how the media spins things and a child looses hand using a dangerous things product would do irreparable damage to the community.

Well itā€™s the established law that allows those practices on some countries or states. Regardless if I like it or not.

I do have to agree, a lot of people get fame for doing jack shit on youtube. But I see it as a byproduct (literal bowel movement) of an ā€œOpen Sourceā€ form of television, as people are able to make some amazing videos that may otherwise not have been made without youtube.

Some really funny and interesting people who put a lot of care into their video, some super-intelligent people also get their ideas funded via their supporting fans. Just today I watched a guy synthesise Spiders Silk via splicing the DNA with yeast to grow, only being able to go on as his fans had gotten him to a point where he had the funds and resources to do so.

so yes a lot of junk gets money too, but itā€™s a necessary evil to having a thriving platform that is free and accesable to all.

Now this propaganda is what we should avoid.

Cant tell if sarcasm or actual concern

The kid did it then spoke to the papers bet the pictures been spun up by the anti chip warriors as a sign we are forcing kids to do it
