The anti🚫-derailment🚃 & thread🧵 hijackingšŸ”« thread🧵 ⁉

Idk,
It depends on the intrusiveness of ads… and wether or not I’m paying for a service

YouTube pre and post ads? W/e… I would as block mid roll ads

If Netflix played an ad (and I’m not on a super low ad supported plan) I’d loose my shit

I don’t pay a dime for YouTube, and better or worse I like them existing, so I’ll play along so they can exist by getting payed to show me ads

Same for thingiverse ad tiles… if I start ad blocking thingiverse… eventually they aren’t sustainable and I loose out

I used to pirate, but I try to be more civilized these days… but if they keep fucking it up, people will just hoist the flag again

The thing about pirating is, it ultimately damages what you want to consume. So I’m a bit selective there - like, I used to listen to new music on yt (pre-spotify times…), maybe download it, and if I really liked the album, I bought it. Same for games - in the 90s, copied floppy disks were standard… but now I earn my own money, and while I’m definitely not filthy rich, I think I can pay the artists for the art they create, and that’s fine - especially for those innovative indie studios. But if a company thrives by using shitty methods (looking at the big bad players like EA, and even ActivisionBlizzard by now…) I surely feel less bad about pirating.

It’s another thing if something is just not available at all without pirating. Yeah well, if you don’t want me to buy a game or a book here legally, I have to get it somehow…

edit: and I totally love sites like https://the-eye.eu/, simply because you can find just about everything there. Like a big library of ā€œthe internetā€

Nintendo for one deserves half of the pirating they recieve, due to their various practices trying to prevent you from migrating games to other platforms even when you own it

That’s what I meant by if a service can’t remain sustainable I loose out

I haven’t watched or had a tv in over 15 years but I do pay for a YouTube premium account since it is my main entertainment source for both videos, movies, music and podcasts.
Also I like and support the platform expept from their stupid greedy tendency to tik-tokify it lately… In fact I may stop my subscription soon just because of that. I’m tired of every single platform forcing stories on me by spamming 50% of my homepage with them. Stick to what you do best YouTube!
I do stream series and movies occasionally but tbh most of them are not available on Netflix anyway. If Netflix had everything and wasn’t playing bingo with what’s visible in what county them I would gladly pay.
Rant over :joy:

Rant: Gosh, that last Guardians of the Galaxy movie sure worked up my family member who belongs in a certain thread…

I think that I should probably watch it now… Haven’t been to a theater or watched TV in a very long time.

I see this as a feature, not a bug  For example, my wife wants to watch trash shows like Keeping up with the Kardashians (sorry Kim), which I said I’m ok with - as long as she pirates the show so they don’t make any $ off your viewership. She said she’s ok watching them into bankruptcy, so it’s a win-win

Funny thing, that’s not actually even true:

It’s all fake, when you click on the ā€œ304 page reportā€ link you get a 307 page report. I feel betrayed :joy:

oh, I love those things!!

they are the perfect combo of comedy of stupidity and a warning about which companies to avoid buying from! xD

None of those ads make me buy stuff… but a lot of tem make me avoid those brands.

and on the comedy side…
last night we were on the tram and saw this billboard that read: ā€œYou are NOT a bus driverā€ in massime yellow letters against a black background. that was it. nothing else visible. no brands, no reasons …
later we noticed some unreadable deep blue tiny letters on the hidden bottom… still got us a good 10 minutes of laughter!!

Probably last time was yesterday. I have adblocks and other script blockers on all of my devices but on TikTok it’s not possible to block all ads and on local news media you need to allow ads to watch their videos.

So I’ve been considering posting up some cash to put a billboard somewhere in the US… just one billboard… just for a few days… but I want it to be placed in one of the most likely places it will catch the eye of either media or cause such a ruckus that the ruckus will catch media attention.

  1. where should I put it? Times square? Middle of LA/Hollywood? Let’s think.

  2. what should be on it? X-ray image of chip in hand is an obvious one… but what else could be on there?

Kind of obvious. Put it where it will offend the most people. To figure out which people, read the nasty comments left on implant vids and such.

So… Religious. Conservative. Intolerant. The news is full of places that match that trifecta.

I’m thinking somewhere on the southern I-35 corridor. Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas. Big cities for coverage, but not too big causes they’re generally less conservative.

Best guess, Wichita or OKC.

Is there any available Bilboard in front of Trump’s residency? :joy:

Either this will cause a panic or Amal gains a new customer and the forum gains a new user who wants to fit all the 30 implants that he ordered just to get started…

Ok, that’s unlikely to happen…

Time to ask @Vicarious to see if he’s got updated X-Rays.
