I have the same experience. In fact you put so much force that when the skin finally brakes Iā€™m always scared Iā€™ll stab myself all the way through :joy:
Turns out thereā€™s enough resistance that that doesnā€™t happen but that little release always feels weird.

Mine was resistant slightly under the skinā€¦ guessing the fascia layer or something

My bet is they got hung up on the back side of the bevel. Thatā€™s because skin was collecting in the hollow as the needle was going inā€¦ this is the whole bevel up versus bevel down thing in action. If thereā€™s plenty of lube and the point slides in easily, but you get hung up right at the backside then itā€™s definitely an issue of skin getting caught because the bevel is upā€¦ though going beveled down takes a lot more skill and practice to get it right without piercing back out through the skin from underneath.

Generally, the best approach is to insert the needle up until that point, then make small twisting motions to rotate the needle just a few degrees in either direction while applying pressure. This is usually enough to work the skin out of the needle hollow enough to finally let the entire bevel slip under the skin.

Just doing a bit of a twist can really help get the bevel under the skinā€¦ especially with these large gauge needles

How many installs (back to back) can a needle holdup?

Everytime it blunts the edge worse and worse on a microscopic levelā€¦ so I donā€™t think itā€™s recommended more than onceā€¦

You could makes get away with 2 or so if your doing them at the same timeā€¦ anything else and why bother trying to reuse and dulled and dirty needle when they are cheap

Thereā€™s a cool infographic about hospital hypdoermic needles dulling, Iā€™ll see if I can find it

Yeah, he did use the lube, could not say if bevel-down or up tho, canā€™t quite remember, could also be that I didnā€™t look at all. He said something about it being sharpened only on one side or smth, but Iā€™m not a needle expert, so I got lost in the jargon he used.

Random shot in the dark,
Anyone use a sleep mouth guard that adjusts your jaw for snoring?
ā€œMandibular advancement deviceā€

Iā€™m interested in using one, pretty bad sleep apnea in combination with an underbite so the idea looks nice on paper, but god I read some bad experiences that scares meā€¦ moving teeth, loosening teeth, causing TMJ issues etc

Itā€™s also clearly a shill heavy industry, so I canā€™t really trust any reviews or info because they all reek of paid advertising

But then again the people satisfied with something are rarely the ones shouting from rooftopsā€¦ idk

:joy:

Iā€™ve been mouth taping for about a year but thatā€™s to control my snoring not necessarily apnea
