I don’t honestly have a particular reason to want a smart watch now, besides gym bio tracking

But it’s a wearable and that’s cyborg ish right?

Nope, mechanical and automatic dive watch here!
No battery, always on time, always waterproof

I wanted to like smartwatch, but I used one for a week and gave it away … Not for me …

Only if you wish that an implantable version was available.

I’d love to have an implantable version of the Aftershokz bone conduction headphones, complete with an accelerometer based microphone right next to my larynx. You can’t get better ambient noise suppression than that. But batteries are a problem…

I absolutely loved my Pebble before fitbit bought them and killed them.

Same, the pebble was great. After they killed it I bounced from smart watch to smart watch for a while, but ultimately daily drive a Hamilton khaki field

Man… trying to find a used Apple Watch at a fair price that isn’t a scam is a less trivial matter than I assumed

I’m wanting to try to find a used 7 or 8, hoping I can maintain blood ox sensor, refurb units are disabled

I don’t trust a lot of places for refurbished.

However I have bought many of services from Swappa with great success.

And I recently bought a 3yr old iPad from woot and it’s in immaculate condition.

They have a few apple watches too but I don’t know if the deal is any good.

The problem is the refurbishment process, because of apples lawsuit they force the sensor to be disabled

Well it lists it in the product description so I’d try it and if it’s disabled return it.

Try Swappa.com … I bought lots from there… it’s just used not refurb but never got a DOA or anything

I’m thinking that might be my route…
It’s only 30$ more than what I can find used but I’m feeling like Facebook shadow banned me or something… nobody I message on marketplace responds or even reads my messages

Coincidentally after I left a negative review for someone not including necessary parts and ghosting me

Marketplace always plays weird games and feels like I’m frequently gas lit lol

I’ve had great success on marketplace but I’m also normally just buying tools

I’ve had a number of watches over the years, but my daily driver used to be a dive watch.
My last watch before going to Smart watches was a Suunto D4i

Not pretty, but a good dive watch, and had Bluetooth connectivity to a pressure sensor

Thanks to this conversation , When I grabbed the image above, I see there is a recall on these units, I might need have to look at that when I am back home, although I’ve never had a problem with them

My watches since then:

Samsung Galaxy Frontier
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Ultra

I have a few watches but the one I use the most is a cheap Casio. The o rings on some of my better watches have been in service for several years so I have a cheap watch that I can abuse without the need for pressure tests. My second most used watch is a Tissot Gentleman.

How long did the smart watches last?

mmmm Tissot…

I only have two valuable watches. One a Speedmaster, and another is more sentimental. a Bulova given to my Grandfather from the city for almost 20 years of service.

I’ve been using the Galaxy watch 4 classic for ~3 years now and its still going strong. I have AOD, location, and NFC turned off and the battery still lasts me about 2 days. I get a little over 1 day of battery with everything turned on.

I’ve thought about getting a speedy but ultimately decided to go with the cheaper Gentleman. This Tissot was a bit cheaper and I like the silicon hairspring, freesprung balance, and automatic winding.

I like my nice watches and should wear them more often.

I almost never wear my nice watches.

I’m far too careless and kind of a neanderthal. So I didn’t mind trashing my shinola. It’s been serviced now twice in three years.

The speedy is more of a bucketlist watch. Big sci-fi fan so of course I wanted the moon watch.
